Police State Thread

^^Oops, I didn't intend for that to come out sounding angry. The authors obviously mean well, they just don't understand the root cause is the root goal - behavior control/modification - and always leads to oppression.

Note that I wasn't able to d/l the pdf to confirm the facts in this. Something to do with the server where I work, not the link itself.

Zero Tolerance

by Robert C. Koehler | May 22, 2015

"As I walked down the hall, one of the police officers employed in the school noticed I did not have my identification badge with me."

The speaker is testifying before the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing. He was a high school freshman at the time. Ah, school days!

"Before I could explain why I did not have my badge," he went on, "I was escorted to the office and suspended for an entire week. I had to leave the school premises immediately."

It gets better.

"Walking to the bus stop, a different police officer pulled me over and demanded to know why I was not in school. As I tried to explain, I was thrown into the back of the police car. They drove back to my school to see if I was telling the truth, and I was left waiting in the car for over two hours. When they came back, they told me I was in fact suspended, but because the school did not provide me with the proper forms, my guardian and I both had to pay tickets for me being off of school property. The tickets together were $600, and I had a court date for each one."

Moderating an oppressive system of control, doesn't change what it is. It only makes the system seem more tolerable to those not caught in its bureaucratic web. And seeking to oppress fewer people than ones neighbors is a truly pathetic goal for a country the whole world once equated with liberty. Whenever I run into this kind of ignorant crap in the media it reminds me just how much we've lost as a once free people.
Population control. we are over populating our country. its just going to get worse.

Couples should only be allowed 2 children at most. It would level off eventually.

No births for 2 years. This would cause chaos most likely, but think of the change.

Pigs need to stop having 5 or 6 different shades of children so their check from the government gets larger, are no longer obligated to work, and smoke pot all day..

Close the borders. or make the mexicans pack their shit and move back home. They are over crowding neighborhoods, taking jobs from us, and maybe 1 out of 10 decides to learn some of the english language. Fact.

In the next 10 to 20 years there will probably be civil war..so this might solve a lot of issues, maybe...hopefully. Us against them.

Good idea. That worked out so well for China.

Who will implement all those controls? The police state. Anyway, in my experience the average Mexican worker does the work of 2 American workers at half the pay. They earn what lazy Americans claim as entitlement. Might be different closer to the border, but around here they are valuable assets to the community.

Not likely. The bleating might get louder, though.

For this week’s http://projects.propublica.org/muckreads/ podcast, ProPublica’s Justin Elliott spoke to the Center for Investigative Reporting’s G.W. Schulz about his reporting on the militarization of local police forces in the U.S. Andrew Becker and Schulz have been the chief reporters on the series, “http://cironline.org/projects/americas-war-within,” which has shown how federal grants have led local law enforcement agencies to stockpile high-tech combat gear without much oversight.

I agree. Mexicans are an asset to communities, in rural, suburbs and country settings. In cities, they are like a plague. There are a ton of white and black or american born citizens who are lazy and think they are entitled for money to be lazy. If there was a way to give mexico 2 of our lazy citizens for one of theres, wed be all set.

To be honest..it was late and I wrote a rant..I cant say I disagree with you. You seem very well versed and literate.

Want Police Reform? Start at the Top
https://verdict.justia.com/2015/06/01/want-police-reform-start-at-the-top

This column continues my discussion of police reform. I want to distinguish between two very different approaches: starting at the bottom in the hope that it will lead you to the top, versus starting at the top and treating the bottom as a social rather than a criminal problem. Police departments mired in the past follow the former approach, while the most promising reformers, like Cincinnati and Baltimore, are trying to move toward the latter.

Who shot who in Waco biker bloodbath? Mystery as witnesses say semi-automatic guns favored by POLICE did most of the shooting in contested accounts of battle
  • Nine died and 18 were injured in Waco, Texas, shootout on May 17
  • Witnesses to the gunfight say that semi-automatic fire dominated
  • Police carry semi-automatics and were involved in firefight
  • Only one semi-automatic fun has been identified from biker's 318 weapons
  • Waco police responded to implication that they fired most - saying witnesses had 'incorrect' account of events
By Associated Press and Dailymail.com Reporter

6 June 2015

First came a few pistol shots, several witnesses said, then a barrage of rifle fire during the shootout last month at a Waco restaurant favored by bikers.

But authorities still have not said how many of the dead and wounded were the result of police fire.

Police have identified only one assault weapon, a semi-automatic gun that fires high-powered ammunition, among the firearms confiscated from bikers, and that was found in a locked car after the shooting ended.

But several witnesses - at least three of them veterans with weapons training - say that semi-automatic gunfire dominated the May 17 shootout that left nine dead and 18 wounded.

'I heard, "pop, pop" small caliber, and then a rapid succession of shots from what sounded to me like an assault rifle,' said William English.

The former Marine and Iraq war veteran was approaching the front door of the Twin Peaks restaurant for a meeting of biker clubs at the time.

Waco police have said they returned fire after being shot at, and call the witnesses' depictions of events incorrect.

While those with pending charges may benefit by blaming authorities, police have declined to release detailed reports from that day and say they are still awaiting ballistic reports.

English said shots came from the restaurant's patio as he and his wife approached the building.

They and other members of their Distorted motorcycle club took cover on the opposite side of the patio.

Steve Cochran, a Navy veteran and member of the Sons of the South club, pulled into the parking lot facing the patio minutes before the shooting began.

He was to help set up for the meeting of the Confederation of Clubs and Independents, a group that advocates for biker rights and motorcycle safety.

'I heard one pistol shot. All the rest of the shots I heard were assault rifles,' said Cochran, who took cover behind a crane about 30 yards away.

He walked the shooting scene with reporters several days later, showing what he saw and his vantage point.

Cochran said he heard suppressed rounds fired by assault weapons, which are still audible but sound different than a handgun firing.

Police have said 18 officers, four state troopers and more than 200 bikers were at Twin Peaks at the time.

Investigators have said the shooting began during an apparent confrontation between the Bandidos, the predominant motorcycle club in Texas, and the Cossacks, then spilled into the parking lot.

Video footage of the shootout shows that it began outside.

Ron Blackett, a Confederation of Clubs and Independents leader who is a former Army and Coast Guard officer, also reported hearing one or two pistol shots followed by a blast of assault rifle fire from where he was parked in a lot behind Twin Peaks.

According to records released after a public information request for 911 calls, Officer Brandon Blasingame reported 'shots fired,' to a dispatcher at 12:26pm.

'Two shot behind Twin Peaks,' Blasingame reported two minutes later.

'They have an AR-15,' he said in the next dispatch. It was unclear who he meant had the rifle, and whether it was something he saw or was told.

The chronology ends at 12:31 p.m. and police have refused to release the rest of the report, saying it could compromise the investigation. Blasingame did not respond to requests for comment.

A Waco police spokesman said the witnesses' depictions of events are 'absolutely incorrect,' asserting that police shot fewer rounds than the bikers.

He confirmed that some officers carry semi-automatic weapons, which fire a single shot with every pull of the trigger, and automatically reload between shots.

Jennifer Cicolani, of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, noted that a semi-automatic gun can shoot more bullets in less time than a small-caliber weapon.

Waco police declined to say whether assault weapons beyond the AK-47 in the car had been seized, reiterating that 318 weapons were collected, including that gun, handguns, brass knuckles, knives and chains.

Waco police have sent the weapons to a ballistics lab in Washington, D.C., and say it could take months to get results to show which bullets struck the dead and injured.

After the melee, police records show officers rounded up anyone suspected of being part of a biker gang, targeting those in leather vests and patches. Neither Blackett nor Cochran was arrested.

English and his wife were, and were held for more than two weeks before being released on $25,000 bail.

'One of the sheriff's officers said we were going to be interviewed and turned loose,' said English, who was wearing a leather vest that day with the name of his club on it.

Nearly all of those arrested were charged with engaging in organized crime, a felony.

About 60 people had bonded out by Thursday, but those with the closest views of the shooting remain in jail and cannot talk, according to the bikers' attorneys.

A biker rally to support those still in jail is planned for Sunday in Waco.

Now what about the officer in TX who pulled a gun on a teen at a beach party? That sounds extreme IMO, as from the video the kids did nothing outward to threaten the officer.

I am going to add this into this thread even though no direct Police related material:

Just to catch an armed shoplifter. You really have to see the video at the linked site to appreciate the title. It's not an exaggeration.

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/front-range/greenwood-village/owner-of-greenwood-village-house-blown-apart-by-swat-says-this-is-an-abomination-this-is-an-atrocity

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. - "There was one gunman with a handgun and they chose to turn this house into something that resembles Osama Bin Laden's compound."

Leo Lech is more than a little upset, and he is not afraid to express it with colorful language.

After all, the house he purchased for his son now has gaping holes where it once had walls and windows. Past the exposed studs and insulation of the condemned structure, you can see artwork on the wall of a 9-year-old boy's bedroom.

"In any civilized nation ... this is the act of paramilitary thugs," he says he told the chief of the Greenwood Village Police Department.

The chief, Lech said, brushed it off.

The damage was inflicted by police and SWAT officers who were working to capture http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/standoff-in-greenwood-village-continues-despite-use-of-explosives-flash-grenades-chemical-agents, a suspected 33-year-old shoplifter who allegedly barged into a random home Wednesday afternoon, and opened fire on police when they tried to arrest him a short time later.

The incident began Wednesday afternoon, when he was allegedly spotted shoplifting in Aurora. Seacat then drove to a nearby light rail station, where he ditched his car and ran.

Eventually, he ran into Lech's house on South Alton Street in Greenwood Village, where the 9-year-old boy was inside. Police dispatchers and the child's mother, who is engaged to Lech's son, talked the child out of the house.

The boy was unhurt, but the standoff was just beginning.

Seacat wasn't taken into custody until Thursday morning. The SWAT team said it used chemical agents, flash-bang grenades and a "breaching ram" to end the nearly 20-hour standoff.

"There was obviously some kind of explosive that was fired into here," Lech said, showing 7NEWS anchor Anne Trujillo the cavernous hole in the wall that used to protect the boy's bedroom.

Those holes are visible in nearly every room on the second floor.

A neighbor, who says the SWAT team used his home as a base of operations, points out that whatever the police used to blast the holes sent debris flying.

"When they used the explosives to blow apart the side of this house here, they broke our windshield," the neighbor said.

"There are holes just like this one all through the back of the house too," Lech said. "They methodically fired explosives into every room in this house in order to extract one person. Granted, he had a handgun, but against 100 officers? You know, the proper thing to do would be to evacuate these homes around here, ensure the safety of the homeowners around here, fire some tear gas through the windows. If that didn’t work, you have 50 SWAT officers with body armor break down the door."

Lech estimated roughly that his plan would have caused $10,000 in damage, as opposed to the $250,000 in damage he believes he is facing.

"This is an abomination," he said. "This is an atrocity. To use this kind of force against one gunman."

Lech explains that he had owned the home for two years and rented it to his son. It is now uninhabitable and may need to be completely leveled.

His insurance will pay for the structure, but Lech's son did not have rental insurance and the possessions inside are therefore not being covered.

"There was an engagement ring in there that would have been John's great-great grandmother's. It survived two World Wars, OK, but it didn’t survive the American police paramilitary operation."

Someone has to rein those cock suckers in. I knew a guy in hs who took beatings on regular basis. Dude becomes a pig. First day on the job he throws a guy through a plate glass window.
