Proscar is it any good

Can anyone tell me if taking proscar 6 months after a course of test/winnys will ward off balding as a result of the roids? How long or often would it need to be taken to stop a balding scalp? and would it have any other effects on sex life, acne etc, mood etc. I'm 21 and would rather not lose my hair but if it will fuck my prostate up i'd rather not bother. Cheers

1. proscar and propecia are the same drug, finasteride. proscar = 5mg and is usually prescribed for prostate in that strength. propecia=1mg and is prescribed for hair loss in that strength. not sure where you heard that it will fuck up your prostate, as it is prescribed to treat it.

2. the beauty of proscar is its drug definition with respect to insurance companies. propecia is not billable to insurance because by definition, it does not treat a condition deemed reimbursable by insurance. proscar on the other hand is reimbursable. it's a loophole in insurance and the difference to the consumer is about $35 a month, depending on your prescription copay. (approx $50 vs $15 copay)

3. i don't care what anyone says. finasteride affects libido in MUCH more than 5% of the administering population. so if you take proscar, expect a lower sex drive. no way to tell how much lower until you take it, effects people differently. either way, libido returns to normal when you stop taking it.

4. you can't take proscar for a couple months to "ward off" baldness. once it is started it needs to be taken once a day for life, if you expect to get anything out of it. if you care about your hair and happen to run steroids, you'll already be taking proscar, so its effects will help during and after cycle. but if you stop taking it, and assuming you show signs of male pattern baldness, the balding process will continue its course and all regrown hair will fall out within a few weeks of terminating the product.

i'm no doctor, i've gathered info over the past few years. hope that helps.

In addition to what was said above, DHT is a very androgenic steroid, and preventing/restricting the formation of it may or may not prevent the muscle hardness/maturity that is associated with androgenic compounds. If there isn't a sign of MPB on your mother's side of the family, I wouldn't be so quick to start finasteride. On the other hand, if you are genetically predisposed and your hair is important to you, it's a pretty good option.

From personal experiences proscar will only work with test. Winny will still make you loose your hair even if you take proscar.

Thanks for the advice. So you can take proscar in order to prolong a full head of hair until later years but risk a low sex drive. Just out of interest, is this the only side effect and if the product is discontinued will DHT production return to the same level as it was pre-proscar or will it show any increase ?

It will return. Finasteride prevents the conversion of test to DHT. It blocks 5 alpha reductase. Once you stop taking it, you're back to normal DHT conversion again.

Here you said that you should look at your mothers side of the family as far as MPB goes, now should I be looking at my grandfather who has a full head of hair at 79, or should I look at his kids who are both around 50, while the younger one has some hair loss in the front. Just out of curiousity.
Thank you

I always take proscar when on test mostly to protect my
prostate, you will live fine as a bald man, but if you fuck up your prostate
you could become impotence, life would suck if ya cant fuck........and throw some saw palmetto in your cycle too, good luck
