Protein vs real food?

Hey guys just curious what you think on this topic...so most my macros come from real food sources except for my protein intake..that’s mostly just whey protein and maybe like 5oz chicken a day...this is due to recently making blended protein shakes...for example one would look like this-
2 cups whole milk
3tbsps peanut butter
1 cup of raw oats
1 banana
Ice
2 scoops of protein powder
-This equates to around 1000 calories and I do this twice a day...and fill the rest of my calories in with other food sources..I guess my question is what do u guys think about this? Blending my food has helped me eat clean in a surplus with no issue...the shakes even taste really good, just curious if I should be getting the majority of my protein intake from other real food sources.

If it works for you, that's great.

Personally, I would blow my brains out if I was eating 5oz of chicken and then shakes rest of day... You could easily drop these 1k calorie shakes and replace them with steak, chicken, fish, etc and still be eating "clean".

Yeah @Eman I guess I opt for it because it’s very convenient and I feel I can stay consistent with it. I’ve never been a big eater so it’s hard for me to eat enough cals to put me into a surplus...which is why I opt for the shakes.

What Eman said. But the number one most important thing is consistency and if this is what it takes for you to be consistent then that's what you'll need to do. Maybe add in a cheap multi if you're not getting a lot of variety in your diet.

I do the same thing with two 1000 calories shakes a day and I eat three 1000 calorie meals a day as well. Been doing it for years and it's worked well. Hell I still drink two smaller shakes a day when I'm cutting because I hate eating and it's convenient. I think you can pretty much consider it real food when you put a bunch of real food in it. Not like it's a mass gainer powder from GNC.

Such dietary changes NEVER last more than a couple weeks bc, unless the OP is a chef, they are so UNPALATABLE, as in BLAND and MONOTONOUS, most sane folk blow their brain out in the first week.

To that end unless the OP can specifically list how these “macro” objectives are to be achieved, In at least a ONE WEEK MEAL PLAN he will be eating “fast food” in short order, and this thread will be buried alongside other “macro diets” in Meso’s discussion page graveyard.

are you seeing results with your current diet? if it’s working for you that’s great, personally i’d say maybe do some pb&js or cereal and different protein sources instead of all the shakes. just to get a little more variety, but it’s all a personal choice really

I thrive on red meat. But most of you physique focused guys make me look a little on the well fed side, if u catch my drift.

Well I got the flu recently and these shakes have been saving my ass for calories..my eating always goes to shit when I get sick.
@Ironlyfe80 I'll definitely do the egg white thing...do you just put it in raw?
@Dw725 What do you eat for red meats? Before structuring this diet I would eat a lot of burrtios with hamburger meat in it- 90% lean 10% fat
Appreciate the feedback guys..just looking for a diet I can stay consistent with I guess and easily fit my calories in throughout the day. Any suggestions or diet layouts I'll definitely look into it!
Also another question is do you guys prep your food a week prior or cook it the day of?

Yeah, they're pasteurized if you buy the cartons. It gives the shakes a better texture too imo.

It was said Mark Metzner ate as much as EIGHT POUNDS of red meat a day —

He is/was of the few pro B.B. who openly faulted such “excesses” for that which eventually led to his death.

He died of HEART DISEASE at age 52
awaiting a heart transplant!

How....? I mean, seriously... How? I couldn't eat that much, not anywhere close to that much.... Amazing.
