can you ever take to much protein in one day? I have heard that if your body does not use the protein right away it will make you gain unwanted weight just like if you eat much. It makes since. But what is the right amount of protein?

I will assume your not taking steroids. You can certainly have too much protein and this will not only put weight on, but moreso it willl overburden your kidneys. I used to take about 2.5g of protein per lean KILO of body wieght.

Some might say thats too much, but it always worked for me and my kidneys are fine. If your on roids, you probably need even more than that, but I dont know cause ive never used them before.

General rule of thumb is: 1gm per pound of bodyweight for a hard training athlete, broken up into 6 small meals and/or protein shakes. If your not training hard you don't need as much. Excess calories are always excess calories.

You definitely can take too much protein. Not knowing your diet and your stats i cant how much is too much for you but be careful.

By taking 1gm per pound of body weight, does that mean that if your weight is 180, you would take 180gms of protein over the course of one day. That is if you are training hard.

yes...I also agree 1 gram protien per lb of body weight . to 1.5 grams protien per lb of body weight.

Now you are trying to figure out just how to consume that many grams right ? well cheat like I do and use protien shakes 3 times per day. I mix cytogainer chocolate with cytosport muscle milk to make a 55 gram protien shake with over 700 cals..i am a hard gainer though..dennis

digestive enzymes are just a vital as your protein intake....get a digestive enzyme supplement, or better yet, get a good juice extractor and start juicing some raw, living, enzyme rich fruits and veggies. I have started implementing fresh veggie juice 2-3 times ED and have noticed the difference. Great pumps and energy.:)
