They could still use legal tanker fleets to sell oil. But they can only sell under $60/barrel. Anything above is sanctioned
The problem being that once the oil supply stops, they can't restart it. Russian oil won't be coming back to market.
Imagine how the left is going to blow a gasket when Trump trashes the electric car mandate.
The left is woefully deluded about the impact of electric cars on carbon emissions and climate change. It does however facilitate a means by which they can assuage their guilt with consumption and feel smugly superior at the same time.
That said, electric cars are great for what they are, but you can't beat the energy to weight ratio trapped in a gallon of refined petroleum.
They can't become as ubiquitous as folks would hope for various reasons, among them, lithium, bauxite, and charging infrastructure.
Once more nuclear energy comes online we'll be a lot closer. It's happening all of a sudden thanks to demand from the AI data center gold rush making nuclear cool again. Microsoft is sponsoring the reopening of Three Mile Island! Crazy times..
I continue to be flabbergasted by people that are both opposed to nuclear, but also panicked about climate change and willing to reduce carbon emissions at any cost, except well.... using nuclear. Solar, wind, batteries, they all have substantial shortcomings that can't be addressed in any other way other than building a baseline power grid from a low/no carbon source.
I wonder what happened to all the anti-nuclear hippies.
The idiots still roam among us. Poke at the news in Germany the last couple of years. They shut down several nuke plants and when the Russian natural gas ran out, they started resorting to coal of the dirtiest sort. They've since delayed decommissioning at least one or two nuke plants. Also, they lie about how much renewables make up their energy grid as it doesn't account for what gets imported.
they can get us for more tax, one way or another.
More? EVs aren't paying fuel taxes which is a huge revenue stream for most states.
It has already been pointed out but it will be in addition to, not a replacement.
How is it in addition to? I pay roughly $800/yr in fuel tax and another $800 in registration fees. EVs only pay for the latter.
I've got a question for all you OPSEC VPN TOR guys. What are you trying to hide? Couldn't you just generate a random MAC address and use the wifi at a local starbucks?
