Rant About Religion

@Throwback respect your beliefs, thanks for sharing.

At most you are a deist not a theist.

The consequence of choosing to worship the wrong God as far as Christianity is concerned is dire, eg infinity torture.

You not only have to choose the correct God, there are thousands, you have to choose the correct denomination, there are thousands.

God's own people reject Christ as son of God. Ya think they would know something?

Jesus does not know the hour, time etc yet Jesus is God.

Christians in particular is the most fragmented major modern religion. Islam has vastly more unity and fewer sects. There are less contradictions in Islam, it is a better written book as far as coherence goes.

So you don't know if you got the right God what makes you even think the bible is all the word of God?

How do you think the bible was assembled and by who?

How do you know you have interpreted correct. Early Christians slaughtered each other over these questions.

Finally what do you think the purpose of this design was.

Irreducible complexity went to court, the example provided by creationists was demonstrated to be false in court.

The design argument is old and attractive at first glance. Will leave that for now but do please tell me what the purpose of rotovirus is as I already asked you. It targets human infants and kills them by diarrhea, purpose??
Irreducible complexity is a scientific term that means an organism or even something mechanical cannot function as designed without that component.
When you speak of going to court are you referring to the 1920s scopes case in Tn?
That was hardly a two sided presentation of facts. Today our knowlege of biology genetics and the cellular world are vastly superior.
You ask about rotovirus...i know nothing about it except this. Viruses mutate they also develop resistance to antibiotics etc. This mutation is typically found at a genetic or cellular level. There are certain environmental influences that seem to act upon existing information at a cellular or genetic level which allows the triggering or activation of that existing info allowing an organism to seemingly evolve...this is actually known as micro evolution.
But...there has never been a documented case of an organism GAINING information it did not already possess in it genome.
The second law of thermal dynamics...Atrophy...basically covers this.
Living organisms may lose info but they do not gain anything that was not already contained in the original genome.

It is some wild shit to read the Bible's miracles if you take them for how it's written.
Jesus walking on water, creating unlimited amounts of fish and bread, or changing water to wine.

Only one I can explain is the fish. If one person shares, then others in the group are more willing to step forward and share as well. So there probably was more than enough fish to feed everyone, but people were just apprehensive towards giving their food up at first.

I met someone who was trying to explain to me that Jesus changed the water to ice, which is how he was able to walk on it. Sound unreasonable to me. Shit who knows maybe he had some liquid nitrogen or something I don't fricken know.

Wine one. No idea.

Damn the more I think of the miracles the more I wonder what kind of mysticism was going on. Changing staffs to snakes... that shit is wild.
So god made the Nile river run red with blood, and the pharoahs magicians used something to *temporarily change the water back to water.

Wish I could see that stuff.

Basically I have no belief in a particular god.

That's it.
Do you have an opinion on intelligent design vs random chance.
Btw... God is really a term used by man to try to give a name to something or an entity so immense that we have really no clue what it is.
Like the Egyptions with Ra..or the Sumerian Annununkai the people used the term God because they worshipped them and were afraid of them in most cases.
So creator or god or whatever the term one uses...i guess i wonder if you see the case for design of all of this by something we really could never comprehend or if u think its all just arbitrary?

No not scopes, more recent will find link. It was the big proof to prove creationism is science. A Christian actually defeated the case in court and proved the IC example wrong by using real science.

Not that long ago, back with link.

You know your talking about a few of jesus miracles...but what about the ones you see everyday yourself.
For instance...we are hurtling thru space at thousands of miles per hour with a moon circling our planet that never hits us while we revolve around a sun that is just exactly the right distance away so that we dont get burned up or we dont freeze to death. which sun is also hurtling forward thru space while it has massive bodies orbiting it at just the right distances that we all dont bounce off each other like a pinball....
Kind of makes turning water into wine a lay down huh?

Strange that this thread has gotten so controversial... Religion threads never get like that.

@x11 don't you have some cats or cousins to sexually assault tonight? It's tough to take you seriously when you refer to something as an "adult conversation" when you have the grammar, spelling and hobbies of a 9 year old.

Sexually assaulting cats? You'd have to slip some catnip in their milk. I personally would not want a scared/angry cat anywhere near my penis. That's x11's lifestyle choice though.

I apologize to people I respect. Don't worry. Your not one of them. LMAO.
I enjoy this topic because I really don't know shit about it and don't claim to. I like to learn from knowledgeable people , listen to what they have to say them research what I've learned and form my own opinion. This topic just like space and universes and galaxies interest me to no end! I will watch hours of tv on these subjects to learn as much as possible.

I respect everyone's opinion and passion for what they believe in. Even cock face X11 opinion. That's his sole opinion and no one has to agree or can take it away from him. On the other hand people like him I have super short conversations with for the fact of how his delivery is so defensive and childish. One could not possibly hold an opinion based conversation with people like him so I just avoid the confrontation. I find it funny also how the most un religious people in this world seem to know the bibles front to back and word for word? That confuses me to this day!

I don't know much. Seems most people learn the Bible just to rub it in others faces and disprove things. I just know it because I went to a Christian high school.

@x11...this whole conversation started about you being stuck on a boat with a woman that you shook her fragile belief system and worldview based on your ideas and beliefs.
There is a book titled The Case for Christ...it was written by a guy named Lee Stroeble. Lee was a reporter back in the day for the Chicago Tribune.
He is the guy that uncovered the inter office memos that proved Ford new there were design flaws with the Pinto that would cause it to explode upon rear impact.
Lee was an atheist and he set about to write a book that would prove that Christ and chritianity was a fraud.
He had the money and contacts to go out an interview astro phycisists...scientists.. historians..and people in the know around the world.
Over the couple of years that he gathered info he beganbto realize that no matter how fucked up jesus followers could be there was no denying the man.
Its a really good read....presented in an anylitical and critical way that doesnt leave any room for dispute.
Lee set out to disprove christianity and wound up a follower of christ.
They started having meetings in an old theatre in chicago to discuss how that could be....
Those meetings evolved into a nondenominational church now located outside of Barrington IL.
Weekly attendance exceeds 12,000 people. The biggest mega church u never heard of founded by a formet atheist.
I think after discussing this with you tonight you will like the book.
Whats the worst that could happen?....
U might become one of those pesky christians.

Easy to explain why atheists etc know the bible so well, in fact really well.

Care to venture a guess?

For the record, the only defensive and ones calling childish names are the god believers.

Unfortunately for Christianity you are correct.
But give them some credit they stopped burning u guys at the stake!

Everyday I'm looking at the green side of the grass is a great day in my opinion. I feel blessed just to be alive and healthy. The best thing about life is life. Remember wether your wrong or right and no matter if we end up dirt or in heaven. The one thing we can all agree on and all have in common Is all of our time on this earth are running out and there ain't shit any of us can do about it!

I think Leancuisine was the OP on the boat.

As promised link to court rejection of irreducible complexity. Huge waste of time and money to prove this idiocy wrong.

Creationists got a lot of attention and Christian peoples money for it tho, immoral frauds pretending to do science.

Yes Lee Stobel made a lot of money with his - I was an atheist but found God story.

Its a great formula to mine Christians for money.

And yes I am very familiar with the design argument. Philosophers and scientists abandoned it a long time ago because it was fruitless. Professional Christian apologists have resurrected and repackaged it to rape Christian pockets.

Thing about design arguments Muslims, Christians and anybody else with a god use it to prove their one true God exists.
