Recovery. And life after surgery.

Been 3 weeks since the fusion of my spine. I'm not taking any pain meds, and if I do it's ibuprofen. I'm in some pain but I'm just not down with the narcotics. Been there before and it wasn't cool. I'm going in for a follow up on Wednesday. I'm gonna ask the doc if I can get on a treadmill or the stair stepper. I'm wondering if I can do an excersize that won't put any stress on my neck. I'm getting bored and restless. Sleep is tuff when you don't exert energy and are in pain...

If he gives you some leniency, which i doubt, dont take advantage of it and go beyond.

I met a guy at my new gym. Hes in sling 3 weeks out from rotator. I said yeah im still waiting im 4 plus months post op and not quite there.

Bad part. He had same surgery 4 months or so ago. Got antsy and started lifting. Ignored his bodies warning signs and bam. Not only did he pull tendons off anchors he gave his labrum a full tear which initially was partial. Now hes fucked.

Give your body the time bro. Youll get there.

Im right with you. Im outta fucking shape now and its hard to watch yourself get there. But i know another month or so ill be close to 100% and by summer ill be right back where i left off last summer

Dam good advice brutha. If I can just get a little cardio action I'll be a happy camper. It's crazy how are minds think. I litteralty think about lifting 24/7... I dream of the gym too. I do agree bro, I'm in pain still and can't ignore that. There is no possible way I could do any resistance training rite now. Not without ending up in worse shape...

Yeah man gotta listen to the body. I was cleared for weights a few weeks ago. But my shoulder says differently.

Im hitting very lite pressing moves or just using bands which dont hurt.

Back, bis, tris, legs are all creeping back up very fast. Im just ultra careful on all pressing

How long were you out again?
 
Since july. Had shoulder done in august (bone spurs and minor repair on supra). Hernia repair in oct. Figured get all done close together so im ready to roll
It's been a little over 3 weeks since I got out of surgery. Tomorrow is my first follow up. I'm not taking any pain meds. Well, I was really hurtn yesterday and took one perc. That's it tho. I'd like to pop one today but I'm not gonna do that as I have no room for pain pills in 2017... I'll post up tomorrow what my doc says. I'm hoping this pain remains minimal so I can officially get rid of the percs.

Youll get there. Just dont mind fuck yourself. Be good even if he lets you sit on a bike and spin for an hour a day.

Like everyones said here , take your time and heal . Your "extreme gusto" probably contributed to your condition my friend ;) Use that for rehab but dont push it . Your as bad as me in that regard (pushing the limits)...think about you every time I train now . :D ~Ogh

Take it easy brother. Noting worse than feeling like you are good to go, only to re-injure yourself. Then you will be out longer. You will be back soon and getting stronger than before.

Like everyones said here , take your time and heal . Your "extreme gusto" probably contributed to your condition my friend ;) Use that for rehab but dont push it . Your as bad as me in that regard (pushing the limits)...think about you every time I train now . :D ~Ogh
Ya bros, I don't wanna jump the gun. I'm excited I'm healing at a awesome pace. I go.in for an x-ray in a day or 2. They told me they will be able to tell how my hardware will hold up under resistance training. They have cleared me for resistance bands. However, I'm a ghoulish fiend for a pump, so I'm not sure I can just quit at resistance bands. My best thinking will get me under weight trying to pump up already. This time down really affords me an opportunity to plan things such as supps, diet and training. So I'm definitely gonna take it nice and easy this year. I'm really gonna see how far I can get on minimal supps and light weights under strict form...

I think of you everytime I realize I'm putting to much pressure on my herniated discs. Unfortunately it's turning me into a puss bag lol

Don't feel like a puss bro. You know just as well as I do that a back injury is serious business... Listen to your body. If it hurts... You know what to do... Just remember TorroXL bro...;)
 
@TorroXL How is the back feeling today brother?
Not bad. I woke up kinda hurting but it passes when I get up and moving. No need for pain pills. Just gonna keep it moving today. I noticed I'm getting tired around 6-7 pm after running around all day. Other then that I'm making a nice Recovery. I go in for x-rays any day to determine how well this hardware is gonna hold up.
