rehab cycle: test, deca, albuterol, gh

Update: Since I stopped working with the trainer I've been working through the shoulder pain a little more. I push until I get a constant lactic acid burn that starts to interfere with the lifts. It hurts all day, but has been feeling a lot less stiff when I wake up in the mornings. This morning when I went in, I was half convinced I was fully healed until I got near my working weight and the pain started to come back.

I'm still doing 25 rep sets for both chest and shoulder, and I do one or the other every workout. It's amazing how difficult it is to get 25 reps out of 45lb DBs! I have to lower the weight on the last couple of working sets.

I don't feel like I'm pushing too hard, but I think I'm pretty close to the max I can get away with. I noticed today I couldn't manage heavy barbel rows after OH DB presses. Sets of 10 at 225 were OK, but I added 50lbs more and felt some real stress in my shoulder just picking up the bar. I messed around with the gym's lat machine, but had a similar problem, and I know better than to try pull ups. Those always hurt even before I injured my shoulder.

Did flat bench today. Sets of 15-20 at 135lbs - after doing a ton of lateral raises to "warm up" my delts. Then moved to incline press on the Smith Machine. I had to keep reminding myself I'm injured so I wouldn't add weight. The shoulder pain was there, sort of, just wasn't noticeable without thinking about it. Might try adding some weight later in the week.

Haven't been able to add weight to bench yet. I can do sets of 20 at 135 with almost no pain, but I can't do one rep at 145. I actually push press more than I bench, heh. DB presses are going up, though. I think turning my hands in some makes it a lot less stressful on whatever is giving me grief on bench. I might give it up for a few more months and stick to DBs, cables and the chest machine.

Went in Sunday just for deads, and tweaked my back on a warm up set. I may have done it Saturday and not noticed until Sunday, though. I pulled the table on my metal mill to service a couple of things. It's only about 200lbs, but it's big and awkward. I was in a hurry and didn't use a hoist, and nearly dropped it before I got it off the machine. My back felt pretty stressed afterward, but I didn't really think it was injured. Anyway, if it doesn't get better quick, like this week, I'm going to drop the blast and go back to TRT until winter.

Flenser I think you're doing the right thing. It sucks, but it's better than hurting yourself or wasting valuable resources. Hope it works out for ya!

oh and another move for quads (not sure if any1 mentioned) is db squats. I strap in and you wouldn't believe how effective these guys are. Keep your chest up and out and slowly go down til you can touch db's to ground. These will fry them thighs!

Thanks newtoketo. I like benching, but not enough to hurt myself again on them.

I've done DB squats occasionally. I have a tendency to bang up my shins, but they do beat leg extensions, since those kill my knees. My gym only has DBs up to 100lbs, so any DB squats will be light ones.

Just ordered some alflutop, 10mg X 20 amps - from ebay of all places. The stuff is practically free compared to the GH I've been pinning. I have plenty of knee pain, so even if it doesn't help the shoulder I should get some knee relief out of it.

The common protocol seems to be 10mg ed for 3 weeks. Then repeat in 6 months. Going to try the first part at least, and see what happens.

I am very interested in your results. Subscribing my friend.

Too bad it's not FDA approved, or my insurance would probably cover it. Made by Biotehnos which appears to operate mostly in Russia and surrounding countries. Not much chance of getting it in a US pharmacy any time soon : )

Very, very interested as well...

I should probably start a new thread for it when I start pinning. Not sure how fast Romanian Post is, but I figure two weeks before it gets here.

Short update, the back isn't feeling much better, but I was able to do heavy-ish barbel rows today with only minor pain. So the only thing I can't do at all is deads. I think I will keep the blast going for now. I'm just starting to see real gains.

Shoulder wise, I did seated OH presses at 155 with only a little discomfort. This after 20 minutes of "warm up". The high reps got me in the end, though. I failed on the last set and bounced the bar off my head before I could get control and rack it. It's not the first time that's happened! Good thing I have a hard head..

Chest day... I know I said I wasn't going to bench, but I did anyway. It was right in front of me with no one using it. I just had to.. Did 5 sets of 15 @145 with no pain. I guess the shoulder is still healing, just more slowly than before. I didn't bother to up the weight more. I'm thinking 10lbs a week is maybe more than I should hope for.

Squats at 425 for 3, just 40 lbs off my old PR. I know it's the tren, but it made me pretty happy anyway. I've been sort of dreaming about hitting 520 on my 52nd birthday in December. Unless I get that 40lbs back really quick, I'll miss my target by about 2 months.

I think I'm going to end posting on this thread. The shoulder isn't 100%, but it's close and it gets better every day. I'm benching 185 for sets of 15 now with way more chest strain than shoulder pain. It may be time to drop the reps some and try to make some real gains.

Lateral and front raises still give me some issues. Light weight and high reps are still all I do with them. They are getting stronger, though. Assuming I don't screw up badly, I don't see any new shoulder issues coming out of the surgery.

I appreciate all the advise from everyone. A lot of things I would have screwed up without knowledgeable Meso members keeping me on track. Probably cut weeks off my rehab.
