Twas emissions that killed the beast. Doesn't really burn off..ever, just sits there and restricts air flow
or it finally drops down and causes the valve to stick long enough to get too friendly with the piston
. I'll see if I have a pic of it from the topside.
I thought EGR did that crap, and I've seen VWs with seriously clogged intakes from buildup - presumably of that kind.
My supercharged engine has no buildup...
Yep done some work on VWs and a couple AudisWhaddaya know, this story says it's mainly VW that has this problem:

BTW, if you weren't aware, Audi and VW are owned by the same parent, lots of commonalities.
Variable Valve Timing was designed to take the place of egr. It allows intake and exhaust valves to be open at the same time when certain conditions are met essentially doing exactly what the egr valve did. The added hp and fuel economy were just a bonus.I thought EGR did that crap, and I've seen VWs with seriously clogged intakes from buildup - presumably of that kind.

I've been overly intimate with bimmers vanos setups

A friend of mine races Porsches - he rips out the VVT setup, or whatever Porsche calls it, as well as the entire fuel injection system, then slaps a bunch of Webers on there, and beats everything else on the track. What's not there can't break, and the lighter car wins on a track. His approach is a total mind fuck on a lot of guys with expensive and complex cars.![]()
Is that a 911 or Speedster he races ?
Seen something similar done at a car show awhile back but with individual throttle bodies from a Suzuki crotch rocket. Probably rev to the moon and back.A friend of mine races Porsches - he rips out the VVT setup, or whatever Porsche calls it, as well as the entire fuel injection system, then slaps a bunch of Webers on there, and beats everything else on the track. Always loved high rpm craziness. When I went the Mazda Miata meet there were several there w/ Suzuki Hayabusa carbs mounted . Screamers !![]()
Always loved high rpm craziness.just acquired a foxbody mustang and really debating on the direction I want to go with it as far as motor. Buddies got a dohc 4.6 I'm considering mostly because it's difficult to stick in there
. Might just slap a school bus turbo on the 5.0 and see how long it lives

Yeah ive seen where it's been done before just not that often. Only real issue I'm concerned with is what brake booster can I run without going to a hydraulic unit. I don't want to run power steering. Wiring is easy smeezy I've built several ls harnesses and got all the pretty little framed certificates to show employers I'm not a dummy. It wont live long...i built and shipped about 30 ...302 331 and 347 motors a couple years ago for different purposes.
A stock piston 302 isnt very strong and honestly if you get up around 500hp a stock block 302 or stroker will split the block in half thru the lifter valley.
The dohc 4.6 will fit nicely in a fox...just use later model cobra pieces for mounting and exhaust.
The harness and engine mngment will be tricky but painless or ford motorsports have kits.
Its a pretty easy swap really.
That'd be cool but I'm still wanting to run a manual trans. An old toploader would be cool behind that setup...it might even take the torque idk kind of something to think about. I'm wanting to keep it extra light, I'm not that into drag racing but if anything it might get put on a roadcourse track nearby for shits and giggles. If you really want to rock a foxbody use a stroker 460 like a 513ish.
We built a 91 convertible in 2007.
Tubular cross member...etc
It Slides right in.
Get a c6 and a good converter...355 gear.
I wish bit it's sadly out of my price range at the momentGet the new flat plane crank 5.2L found under the new mustang.
