Setting up a gym at my home

Guys... I'm from the US but live over here in Hyderabad, India (and will for quite a while) and the gym's are not what I'm used to, not to mention the prices are nearly double and you get half the room and less than half the equipment of a decently supplied gym.

I have plenty of room in my house and am going to start setting up my own gym. Can anyone point me in the right direction of an international source of quality fitness gear (squat racks, Olympic BB sets, DB's, benches, etc.) Preferably a source closer to India, cuz I"m not trying to pay an arm and a leg to get the equipment shipped over from the US.

To give u an example of what Im dealing with, I checked out a fitness suppler and the price for a 400lb Olympic BB set was about $450 US.. And no.. it wasnt the nice pretty chrome shiny stuff, Im just looking for the basics. To me weight is weight, hell, worse comes to worse, I'll tie rocks to a freakin stick! LOL

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

everything you need and everybrand very pro.

best thing to do is get a power rack, and bech along with a set of weights with a bar, its good when working out alone and you can do more things alone, negatives go to failure then you have dips on the side of most of the power racks as wello as lat pulls, and you can purchase bunjis and tie them to it and burn out after your done, works good, all that
bunjis-$30
power rack $250 most
weights-300lbs - $100 buy 2 of em
curl bar - $50

your looking at under a grand believe me its worth it you will train alot more and sometimes even when you wake up or just or bored, you have NO EXCUSE KNOW, its right there

Manufacturing home Gym Equipment??

Thanks for the help, but I think you guys arent reading my question. I'm not in the USA (I'm working in Hyderabad, India currently) and I'm looking for someone who could share experiences of manufacturing their own equipment or provide blueprints of some basic gym equipment. I can buy gym equipment here, but it's all shipped in from the US and it's expensive as hell. I found an excellent welder here and all I need now is to show him what to build! I'm looking for someone who has actually built their own equipment or could show me where to buy blueprints.

Thanks,

I would check the local classifieds for olympic weight plates and a power rack. This type of equipment is ubiquitous and should be available over in India. Getting someone to ship over to India would be nearly impossible and would cost quite a bit (if you could find someone).

wizer, i'm pretty sure craigslist.com has a section for india. check it out and see if anyone is selling equipment. you can find perfectly good used stuff on there and even negotiate the asking price. People always buy workout equip. and never use it! you can find stuff practically new there. I think it's worth checking out.
