Shoulder injuries and Bench Press

I have been using hammer strength chest presses while rehabing my right shoulder the last 2 months. I'm not losing any deveopment. I have very little pain using them.

Best plan would be to work with your doc. If you are still having pain ask why you are not 100%.

I am for sure more bettwr than before my surgery. It's just the progression of upping bench press, the causes pain. I like to use bodybuilding.com to find excersices. I think they have some good content. I'm going to look into the excersices you guys are mentioning.

I had surgery on both of my shoulders. While my surgeries weren't as extensive as yours, it still took time to get back. And I'm still not able to do some exercises I did before my surgeries.

I just tried different angles and grips for bench until I found stuff that didn't bother my shoulders; reverse grip barbell, dumbells(elbows tight to my body, like another guy said, I feel this better than taking them wide).

Take it slow and be patient. My right shoulder still flares up every once in a while. Just have to know how far you can push it.

The worse thing in the world was during P.T, getting my motion back. I was immobilized for about 1.5 months. Every day I would go in and movet shoulder just a little more, they hurt so much. Probably the second worse pain I've ever felt. The first was right after my surgery, as I was waking up whenough I was in my immobilizer. The nurse put my arm on the arm rest of the chair. I had a complete nerve block and I was still mostly asleep. I was screaming in pain... That's my experience

I go light with higher reps as much as my shoulder can stand, along with stretching prior to lifting.
Pretty much was going to be my suggestion. High reps with control and stretching between sets have helped heal two shoulder injuries for me.

I can go pretty heavy now (did 185lbs for 12 behind the neck press), but I still at least once a month go high reps. I mean like 30 per set. It takes the tightness out of them, but it also saturates the muscle with tons of blood which helps circulation rid the area of any stagnation.

And most of all, be patient.

I definitely didn't have it that bad. Had a subacromial decompression and ac resection. Motion on my right shoulder was slow( maybe a month to get back to normal), left shoulder was a breeze. I washed my truck 2 days after surgery.

Hang in there bro. Any shoulder surgery is a bitch. Keep a positive outlook and do what you can in the gym. I did cardio, legs, and abs for about a year before I did upper body. Just don't get out of the habit of going. Even if you never get it fully back, you're already ahead of most guys who walk around with their "dad bods".

I find that pot stirers help a ton between sets that agitate my shoulder. That is like my miracle stretch I love it! I'm going to for sure change up my chest day. Thank all of you for helping me out! I want to hear about your guys' shoulder injuries

Whenever I'm feeling unmotivated I always like to think of what Tony Horton said.... "People around the world are eating donuts right now, and you're here at the gym, that's more than most people will do on there day!".
