Meso is a great discussion board, but is not a source board. Using a source board can be a very helpful tool on your search for underground steroids.
I've learned my way around one source board, eroids. Here are a few things I've learned.
1. Don't form an opinion based on a source's ranking in the votes. Those ranks are heavily weighed by the volume of votes. Big sources like naps will have way more votes than a smaller src and find themselves at the top. They can easily be placed higher on the rankings than a little src with nothing but 10's across the board.
2. Don't put too much value into the majority of the reviews. Sources will make fake accounts and post fake reviews that make them look good. They will also post fake reviews that make competitors look bad. You will also find reviews from noobs that are trying to get in on promo's that are only open to those that left reviews.
I just found 2 fake reviews on Naps last week, they were exact copies of reviews made a few months ago.
Look into the post history of the guy leaving a review, and decide if he's full of shit or not.
3. Look deep into a sources past. On eroids, there is a review section and a source discussion section. If you dig deep, you'll see how often your SRC goes MIA or has issues with massive PIP, or weak gear. There is a SRC on eroids called Savage Roids who disappears for a couple months twice a year and people still try to buy from him, then act surprised when he goes AWOL.
4. Look at bloodwork. There is a picture section devoted to lab reports, either bloods or mass spec. I don't put much value in mass specs anymore, so I try to judge a src by how good their Test is. You still have to judge weather bloods were posted by a shill, troll, or real user.
5. Fanboys and Haters. I automatically rule out the reviews and opinions from new users, it's just too probable that they are shills/ trolls. I look to the guys with at least a few months on the board and at least a double digit Karma score.
Just because someone has been on the board for years and has 300+ karma does not mean their word is good.... they can still have their agenda. If you want to see who's word is likely to be good you can look at their other posts. IF they only post in a few SRC discussion pages, and always have the sweetest things to say about their favorite source they are probably full of shit. Look for the users who spend most of their time answering questions about cycles and gear, real forum contributors. These are the guys you'll have to PM to see who they like as a source, because they don't go around all day nut hugging.
Please feel free to contribute your own opinions, and info on other source boards.
