Sign up for GoodRx,

search for cheapest local pharmacy with Minoxidil 2.5mg qty 90. Usually around $15.

Go to GoodRx Care, get a same day tele-health appointment for $19.

Reason : General, Male Pattern Balding

Tell them your're healthy, not on any other meds, have no insurance, and would like a 90 day prescription for 2.5mg Minoxidil. Have it sent to the pharmacy you found above.

There's your $5 a month domestic oral Minoxidil source

PS May as well ask for 1mg Finasteride 90 day supply while you're at it. It's about $12 for 90. Get a pill splitter while picking up and chop em into quarters. .25mg a day won't cause side effects but provide 80% of the benefit of 1mg.

That 2 pill combo is the 100 megaton nuke of hair protection and regrowth.

Follow this easy two pill daily protocol and it definately will.

You must be consistent and patient, Deal with any early sides, if they happen, like a little water retention or slightly higher heart rate with the minoxidil. After a few weeks your body will acclimate and they'll go away.

You'll experience temporary shedding early on from both meds, as the follicles "reset" and begin a new growth cycle.

Expect to see initial results around 4 months, with far less shedding, and hair texture improving.

Significant results (as in others can notice) around 1 year is typical, and continued improvement for several more years is common.

Rogaine was around $1,000 a year for decades, vs the more effective, easier $75 option. I'm not conspiracy minded, but there's a big incentive to make sure if any info did get out to doctors about it, suddenly the old, safe blood pressure med presented all kinds of potential risks, even at the infant dose used for hair.

I just recently found out there are around 1M prescriptions for Dutasteride in the U.S annually. Imagine if this drug was as bad as people on the Web say...

how long have you been using OM for? me 6 months and more gains in those than 8 years on topical. Yikes

3 years, though getting it back then was like asking for heroin. Certainly helped regain some ground, and improved the texture of what I still had.

Hated the foam. Damn near useless, expensive, and a mess. OM turned me into a bit of an ape, but it's easy to handle with an occasional shave.

Really helped my beard too.

Funny thing is, insurance assumes it's prescribed for blood pressure, so they covered it. Even though it's dirt cheap already, it got down to $5 for 180 2.5mg tabs for me.

I wish 5mg was available so I didn't need 2 tablets. India pharma sells 5mg.

Now after 3 months of low dose Fin, improvements have started up again.

I'm even considering switching over to Dut, because it targets the 5-ARs that live in sebaceous glands, right next to follicles, which Fin doesn't.

Can you direct me to the 5mg pills? I can't seem to find anything reliable that will ship to me in Canada.

Also, what dose are you running your fin?

.25mg / day. I'm a hyperresponder though. Long before "Post finasteride syndrome" hysteria 1mg / day totally killed my libido and motivation. Took about 4 weeks to recover (which we now know is how long it take for 5-AR activity and DHT levels to return to baseline.). Back then it scared the crap out of me, since no one could offer an explanation. I "felt" .25mg a little bit. but after a few days I realized everything was fine. and after a brief shedding period my hair fall dropped by 90%, indicating a longer "growth" phase, so more hair would be present at the same time. Even my scalp FELT better, which was unexpected. I'd been living with DHT induced inflammation for so long I didn't realize what it was like to be without it.

Oral minoxidil from Pricelist September 2024 .

Email and Ask about Canadian reship policies.

If that source doesn't work for some reason try:

Trinity Medex
www.trinitymedex.com
trinitymedex@gmail.com

Great prices but you need to email to ask for quotes. their catalog doesn't show much. Much better pricing for 10+ "strips" at a time. (one strip is 10 tabs of india pharma). .

Thanks man. I see PCT.zone carries it. I just didn't know what name to search up but after seeing the price list I was able to search the same product on PCT.zone.

Appreciate your help.

Fin 0.5mg EOD has helped me reduce shedding but its not regrowing. I want to do 0.25mg ED but have a hard time cutting them equally so I may go to 0.5mg ED and throw in oral minox.

Yeah PCT24 has it too, but tbh pricing is high for both and not sure if they ship to Canada. Probably just spoiled given how cheap it is in the US with a prescription.

I have no hope of getting even fin quarters, but I cut up 10 at a time, and figure it evens out over the 40 days I take them. It's a long half life drug. There is a small benefit to higher doses. and most have zero sides at 1mg, but I think it's wise to start at .25mg or ,5mg to put one's mind at ease, rather than risk the "trauma" of having a strong reaction at 1mg. I think .20mg is the lowest dose demonstrated to have significant hair protection and regrowth benefits, and for the vast majority, a large 5mg dose was no more useful than 1mg.

If you can't find the right dose in pills, you could try to make a suspension or solution, like 10 days worth at a time, and dose 1/10th daily. I haven't tried this with fina but have done it with pills that are hard to split. Maybe not getting the exact dose every day but pretty close 10-day average.

Good idea. I could go this route for oral minox as well. Thanks for the suggestion.

Would there be any benefit to running Dutasteride and oral Minoxidil? Instead of Finasteride and Minoxidil?

Would there be any benefit to running Dutasteride and oral Minoxidil? Instead of Finasteride and Minoxidil?

Yes. There are two types of 5a reductase, the enzyme which converts testosterone to hair killing DHT, known as 1 & 2. Finasteride inhibits type 2 only, Dutasteride inhibits both. Type 1 is plentiful in the sebaceous (skin oil) glands in the scalp.

Dutasteride is MUCH more potent than Finasteride. That said, many men take doses far higher than those used for hair loss without side effects.

Start at the lowest dose, every other day, and see how it goes. If you can tolerate it, it's very effective at protecting hair, though finasteride is as well.

The combination of either with oral Minoxidil is the most effective treatment known for stopping and reversing (within limits) androgenic alopecia.

$5?!?! oh wow!!
I just picked up 180 2.5mg tabs for $18 and thought I got a deal. LOL!

For gents in Canada, if you are unable to get a prescription from a doc for OM, can check out phoenix dot ca.
They have Fina + OM 2-in-1 pill. 1 mg fina + 3mg OM.
Its a subscription-based model tho. $150/3 months. Not too bad in my opinion. I almost subscribed, but luckily was able to convince my doc to write a script.
