No, but may make a decent recovery within a few years. This is permanent and life altering.

Sorry to hear it brother.

Hope with some time and PT you recover well.

Focus on getting better and slowly ease back into the business. One of the benefits of dealing with a more experienced customer base is that most have their gear for at least one cycle (most more than this) in advance. So you don't have to jump back in full speed.

Thank you, MP. I gotta say, man. Those pt people don't give a crap about how much pain your in, lol.

Well,.for security reasons I'd like to keep that private, but it's bad. Very bad.

When I was 35 I was doing heavy ass BB shrugs. Felt pretty severe pain in my lower back. Thought it was muscular or a pinched nerve. After 8 weeks of severe pain and multiple Dr's visits for muscular pain, I finally had a physician order an MRI. They said, " sorry to tell you this, but you have severe degenerative disc disease, severe stenosis, 3 bulging discs with one completely ruptured". I was like, "degenerative disc disease at 35?!"

What a shock. After 16 month of shooting pain down my legs, constant pain, several months of numb toes, and absolutely no physical activity, I began to heal on my own. They wanted to operate but I had no insurance. It took a long time to feel better. Still have chronic dull pain in my lower back, but it's manageable with lower back exercises. Once I stop doing these, my back gets weak and unstable and the pain returns. Sucks.

I know what it's like to be faced with a life changing, unexpected medical condition. Wishing you the best broham. Whatever it is, it probably won't be as bad as you think or what they say. The body sometimes heals on its own.

Back pain isn’t something you can just live with either. It’s always there, nagging you no matter what. I’ve got some shoulder issues but all I have to do is avoid using it the wrong way and I’m good. Can’t do that with knees or a bad back.

I have a similar story. Ended up herniating a disc when I was 19 from olympic weightlifting. Took several months to heal before I could do any sort of squatting again. Ended up playing rugby for 3 years a year after the injury which would flare up from time to time, but i was able to manage it. Had a bad flare up and eventually got a MRI which should a completely black L3-L4 disc and the only thing to do, short or surgery, is just let it heal and limit my movements. Only did leg presses and hack squats for years.

Started looking into alternative treatments and found that Donnie Thompson's lower back protocol and the Reverse Hyper machine (westside barbell) drastically help heal and recovery disc injuries and now I'm back to squatting and deadlifting regularly. Just very cautious and listen to my body and do the lower back protocol multiple times a week, as well as do graston treatment on myself and get it done professionally. Works wonders.
