The purchase, possession and personal use of anabolic steroids was legal up until to July 2013. It has since been criminalized thanks to efforts by anti-doping crusaders.

Illegal to buy and consume anabolic steroids in Norway

For several years it has been illegal to import and sell anabolic steroids in Norway, but purchasing and consuming the drug has not been covered by the legislation.

As of July 1, it also became illegal to use and buy steroids after changes were made to the Medicines Act.

Several experts have registered an increase in the use of drugs among teenagers who try to build muscle, which is a cause of concern, NRK reports.

"We are now sending a very strong signal that these drugs are not ok. Drugs do not only cause damage to the person using them, but the person's family and friends are left with many worries," says Minister of Health and Care Services Jonas Gahr Støre.

Police, Anti-Doping Norway and doctors agree that is was about time that the changes to the Medicines Act were made and put in effect.

"Finally the people who buy anabolic steroids can also be sentenced, and that will scare many people away from using these drugs," says John Konstad, investigation leader at Sør-Trøndelag police district.

Sweden's pretty much had done the same thing as well. Seems these anti-anabolic wingnuts are picking up steam.

Probably not long before the rest of Scandinavia falls to them too.

This scenario has been repeated again and again all across Western Europe over the past decade. Some have taken it to the extreme like Sweden and Denmark.

There's still so much Inaccurate Information on AAS.

I'm waiting for the Equivalent Movie for AAS.
Anyone remember, "Reefer Madness".
We use to get Stoned and go watch it at 1 of the Art Theater's back in the day........................... JP

I have a parent on either side of the Atlantic - one is in Sweden... a place I actively avoid going to. Not because of this specific law, obviously, but because this is the mindset that permeates everything. I can't be there more than 48 hours before I get into a fight with just about everyone - they are soooo clueless about the world, and so conceited about the righteousness of their ways.

Oh, about Norway, that country has banned procuring adult services btw consenting adults - even if it takes place outside the country. So this is nothing new.

Also, Norway, despite having massive oil reserves and production - they tax gas up the wazoo. Go figure. Norwegian girls are SUPER cute though.

While Sweden is a beautiful country, the people must be pretty conceited enough about jacked people to go that far.

Didn't Bigger Faster Stronger make mention of how rife AAS use in bodybuilding is?

No way Norway! Sorry had to do it!

I don't get the Steroid Witchhunt. We have a HUGE Heroin Epidemic in this country and especially in my state. Honest to Pete, last Friday my neighbor O.D. on Heroin. How can steroids take precedent of heroin?

Ouch yes that shows how screwed our priorities are in the drugs game.
