Coinbase is STILL completely functional as long as you use common sense with your wallet.

Had a bank account limit of 10k and debit card limit of 300$ per week. Always transfered to another wallet after purchasing and maintained about a 3$ balance in my coinbase account. Weeks pass with no activity and yesterday I get the closure email. Always bought bitcoin through my verified card and bank account. WHY DID IT CLOSE?

What I am saying is that they have their "criteria" for closing accounts based on "suspicious" usage.

It is not "random," it is selected for reasons of suspicion and they do not advertise what those suspicions are.

Why did they close yours? I'm not exactly sure which criteria you met, however, it was not "random" is all that I'm saying.

The less "savvy" things you do with your account the better.

Quick question, did you make your AAS purchase only a SINGLE wallet away? Or did you transfer from Coinbase to secure wallet #1, then from secure wallet #1 to secure wallet #2, then #3 and THEN make your illegal purchase several "jumps" away from the government wallet?

Or did you jump one hop away from the government wallet to make your illegal purchase?

I'm guessing that you did the single jump and got caught for not being careful enough!

Just got a email from coinbase as well closing my account. I never went straight to donation center but transferred to 2nd wallet then put thru a mixer. I did rarely use it and hadn't used it in about 2 and half months.

The block chain is completely public info. Anyone can see anyone's transactions. It is essentially a matter of "brute force" and all transactions have the "potential" to be retraced.

With Coinbase working so closely with the government, it makes sense that they are investing more power into "brute forcing" the discovery of illegitimate BTC usage.

Now is the time to start using more tumblers and more secure jumps in your wallets before transaction.

Now when Eth coin takes over, that will be a glorious revolution. BTC is already old technology.

I wonder if there is a connection between those accounts being closed and the recipients. Example, everyone's account is being closed who sent BTC to pharmacom international or something. Maybe they are not tumbling or maybe they're tracing funds back to the sender and eventually closing the purchasing wallet?

Honestly, take a chance. Bitcoin is still safe IMO if you use an anonymous wallet that has been transferred several times. Can it still be traced back to you? Of course. The gov't monitors EVERYTHING.
