Congratulations, man. In my experience with anything addictive, you have to really want to get clean to succeed. Stopping smoking cigarettes was honestly harder for me than pain pills but I digress. Around 2012, my pain doc told me I had to choose weed or opiates. I chose weed and weaned myself off over the course of a couple weeks. When I went back to see the pain doc a couple months later, he was shocked that I was clean. He still tried to push me toward suboxone even after I told him I was off opiates. I told him that sounded like a stupid idea but he insisted that I at least call the suboxone clinic. They agreed with me that if I was already off opiates that it wouldn't make sense to start suboxone. Still clean off opiates short of a couple of times when my back/neck were really killing me. Still smoking like a broken stove but life has improved without opiates for sure. Still have painful days but it's worth being off that shit. Again. Congratulations brother.
