Terrible cholesterol , need help

Crestor seems to be the statin of choice around here. Any reason why, in particular? Thanks
Rosuvastatin is a potent statin but is also chemically slightly different in that it has a lower % of side effects as compared to Atorvastatin, the other good choice would be Pitavastatin both are "newer generation" statins with less side effect profile.

Theoretically this is true as Atorvastatin is lipophilic and Rosuvastatin is hydrophilic and doesn’t cross the blood brain barrier. However, the literature doesn’t show a significant difference in the occurrence of adverse side effects.

Though not conclusive there is some data that show Rosuvastatin being more well tolerated at low to moderate doses.

Regardless, I still think it’s the superior choice in most cases. Though, for Pravastatin, there actually is a distinct difference. It’s just less efficacious.
