Test HRT for women

Morning board,

My woman was on HRT her doctor including some test creams. Her script ran out in January and since roughly mid-january she has been super lethargic, lower libido, and finding it difficult to lose weight/fat.

Note, she has done a few bikini comps and has never had this issue losing weight.

She has had blood tests done just recently and most of her hormones at just a tick above the "normal range". As we all know, being in range does not equal feeling the best. Dr is not open to putting her back on the creams at all.

I figure he basically screwed her up putting her on, then just stopping her asap.

She knows I am on test and asked me the other night about going on an HRT dose.

What is a typical HRT dose for women? I have read things from 2mg/week to 20mg/week. Which is a massive difference.

Need some advice please.

Less is more. I've heard 50mg is the upper limit before expecting side effects. And I've seen women that ran 500ew, not the look I want in my woman.

I'd start at 10mg/wk, see how she feels and run some bloods if possible.

What was the concentration testosterone in the cream? You can find out the dosage by finding out how many mg was being applied per day. For example If 1 gram of 1% test cream was applied per day she was getting 10mg of testosterone a day.

Equation would be 1000mgx0.01 for my example.
If she was using 0.5% cream the equation would be 1000x0.005

Edit: also for the people who are on my ass about giving advice, I compound medications daily for a weight loss clinic so I have some credibility when it comes to simple dosing equations

I'm not going to disagree but we should also look at the poor absorption that is generally gotten from topical creams vs injecting oils

My wife’s was in doctor prescribed HRT, we got sick of spending the money I put her in 25mg of test a week pulled bloods after 4 weeks. Everything looks good so that’s what she is doing now. Just start her low pull bloods and adjust.

Any side effects at the dose? What is her weight?

I am thinking to start her off at 8mg/week, 2 shots of 4mg.

Good advice and this could provide a decent starting point, yeah absorption is an issue, but a decent benchmark.

Thank you

Lots of ladies do legit HRT post 45. Lots of ladies also experience voice changes, enlarged clitoris, more hair and a wealth of other side effects.

Almost all women I have known on Test based hormone replacement regret it years later. So do their husbands/significant others.

Test will cause masculinization over time even at recommended HRT doses. I would steer you toward <=17.5 mg Anavar for her instead for fat loss and muscle retention. Just a suggestion

Wouldn’t that just suppress her natural t to very low levels over time and make her feel even worse? Anavar isn’t a replacement to testosterone.

Agree. But if she was already on HRT for low T… My point being if she is on true HRT she is probably older and pre/post menopausal. Her doc pulled her off.

She is looking to lose weight and is active. It would stand to reason that given those considerations Anavar would be a better compound for achieving her goals.

I did not intend to say that it was a HRT replacement for testosterone. Candidly I would not put my wife on testosterone for a wealth of additional reasons under these or almost any other conditions.

Make more sense?

They (HRT clinic) had my wife on sublingual test which was twice a day administration at I believe 2.5mg per for 5mg a day. This raised her test to high and she didn't have any free test (0.8) and her dht shot up and she start losing her hair. She has long beautiful hair so she was panicking. Her total test came back in the 90s.

They then moved to topical which she got absolutely no absorption from essentially.

They have now recently finally changed it to injectable test. They are starting it at 5mg which I think will be to low for her but time and lab work will tell. I think her happy place will probably be 10mg. Maybe 7.5mg. I'd much rather they start on the low end and taper up with lab work though after her awful experience with the sublingual.

They didn't test SHBG but if I had to guess her shbg was probably sky high on the sublingual since her free test was only 0.8

Moral of that story is start low and taper up bc sides for women can come on fast and hard. There needs to be a perfect balance between test, estrogen and progesterone.

In theory the sublingual is a cool idea bc it bypasses the first pass of the liver but it was awful for her. The topical resulted in no absorption. Everyone is different but I think skipping all the bs and just going to low dose injectable test is the way to go.

Update - after reading, not research as if I am a fucking PHD!, decided on 2 4mg shots per week for her. Will re-assess after 2 weeks to see how she is feeling. Making her keep a log book (physical, mental diary) to stay on top of any issues.

fyi - she just had her blood work done and everything is in LOW normal range.

3mg per week as a starting dose and assess. You want to get her in the 50-75 range. You should check progesterone and estrogen as well.

Get estrogen so where around 140-200 and progesterone should be approximately 1/10th of her estrogen. Pull labs 7 days before her monthly cycle

Thanks. I appreciate it!
