I have a fantastic job opportunity coming up for me in CHarlotte North Carolina. It will be a nice salary increase for me and my company is willing to pay for the transfer. I wanted to know if the salary increase is worth giving up what I my area gives me.

Pro's - Lower cost of living , friendlier atmosphere, less stresss overall (compared to NYC/north NJ), weather is'nt as extreme (especially winter),cheaper insurance. and all the other stuff u people know it offers

Cons- All things "I think" NC lacks as far as compared to NYC (arts, diversity, opportunities, social atmosphere, hot women ;) ,clubs/bars, the competition, and nyc attitude  and all the other stuff u people know it offers

Any of you fellas from NYC/NJ/CT transfer or make the move down south?
If you have express your opinions if you have made the right decision.

For all the locals from NC how is life down there?

I'm from NJ and was going to move to myrtle beach sc last summer. I didn't do it. In the long run i didnt thin ki would be happy for the same reason's you said.
But if you move done there with any kind of money in your pcoket you can be set. Houses and everything are dirt cheap compared to NJ. Taxes too.
But there was no way I could live with people saying yoall all the time. And your never going to get places to eat like NYC.

i moved from nyc about a year ago to southwest florida and its been great ever since...only because were i live and work everyones from new york or............................................................... jersey (yuck)

NC is a place that i'm considering...just north of where you might go. its a small town. personally, having lived in NYC for over 30 years, i'm tired of it all and am looking to go somewhere more relaxed and quiet. the down side is, like you said, the social part of it. you wont find any clubs open at 3am, nor will you be able to just "run lout and get something to eat" at that time. go down for a week and see how you like it. a friend of mine who lives there was discussing salaries with me. seems like $18 an hour is "real good" down there. you can get a nice house for less than $200k. so in your case, it'll be a matter of adjusting/slowing down to their pace.

but go down and spens a week. that'll give you more of a feel for it. but remember that if you do move, you'll make friends and there will be more to do.

have a nice day

NC is one of the few states i considered moving to. I think it has a nice variety and a lot of good things to offer. Couldnt pay me enough to live anywhere near New York, florida, or california so maybe my thoughts wont suit you lol

y'all... lmfao!!! good point bro. i've been thinkin of making a move, trying to escape the stress and the rat race but i just couldn't go down south. i'd like to slow down but not that slow... the southwest looks more like something i could do... :D

First of all, Florida is not the South. It is retirement village for old New Yorkers. Secondly, it isn't that slow anymore especially Charlotte. Shit, they have almost as much crime as NYC. That way you won't feel homesick. Some of us even have collidge degreas and drive kars instead uf horsese.

Hey, bro,

As for the diversified micro-culture atmosphere, restaurants, and clubs open all night, you'll never replace NYC....dag, I love that place. But, I live in SC. I worked in Charlotte for a few years, and loved it. But, it depends on the type of person you are. Things are definitely laid back down here. We all do say ya'll, and there are alot of backwoods ignorant rednecks, but you'll never find more friendly and helpful ppl. If you break down on the side of the road, even with only a flat, 4 or 5 ppl will stop to try to help you. Where, in the North, they would stop, but to rob you and leave you for dead. I know, I was born and raised in the North.

I am a mountain person, so this area is great. Very beautiful scenery, and the mountains and foothills area, just a little West of Charlotte stay about 10-15 degrees cooler in the summer. Great barbeque here. Cost of living is great, but live on the outskirts of Charlotte, as right in the city limits rent or houses are high. Don't know much about the club scene, but hear the downtown area has alot to offer. I do know they have events downtown several times a year, where they close off the center of downtown, and have live music, beer, and food.

All-in-all, I would never move back North, but love to visit in the Fall, as it lasts longer up there.

You northern fucks :D

The South is a great place to live. The people are all friendly for the most part and there is a lot of beautiful land in the South. It's not like you won't find any clubs there or anythig, that is ridiculous. Especially in Charlotte. Plus the weather is nicer IMO, i can't stand cold weather and my mood is very dependent on the climate. Plus you can't beat those southern bells. They are smokin

Mutant,
I moved to Charlotte almost 6 years ago from Connecticut for a huge salary increase.I found out that even with the big money,it sucks to leave your family, friends, gym etc.

If you are a traditional type of person that likes familiarity,it ain't worth it for the money.Within 30 days, you'll forget about the money and you'll probably question your decision.

On the other hand,if you are sick of the North, there really isn't a better place in the south than Charlotte. Everything is new.The women are very hot and incredibly easy to talk to.You'll probably score more quality pussy than you are used to. The women here dont have the Northern Cunt attitudes.

The weather is great and yes, people will stop to help you which took a while for me to get used to.
You'll never find a good pizza or any of the food we are used to.I'm Italian so I get everything shipped from NY and Boston.

You can buy a 3500-4000 square foot palace for under $325,000.Car insurance and taxes are probably a 1/3 of what your used to.

If you are coming during the 4th,PM me and we'll make arrangements to hook up.I just bought a Ferrari 355 Convertable and it has been an absolute riot, these women go fucking crazy.
C'mon down and we'll get into a bit of trouble...
