Zane's physique is darn good, and would he win an O if he were to step on stage today? Most likely but I doubt it because of all the inane politics in the sport.

I believe that the almighty "Weiders" probably took that into consideration. Mr. Oympia is basically the spokesman/role model for bodybuilding during his reign. I think the factor of having him on the right side of law in a sport notorious for illegal drug use was definately significant. He was just the guy they were looking for. Now from what I know he's not a cop anymore. Don't think he has been for a while. I would imagine that the police dept at some point couldn't ignore the obvious anymore and eventually the police probably felt pressure to cut ties. I mean if he's asked about steroids the only "right" answer is no. Which is exactly what he said when on Leno and Jay brought up the subject. He said, no I don't do that. Stupid question, I know, there's only one right answer and that is a complete denial.
There is still hope as cedric was mentioned earlier and here we have shawn rhoden..

roelly winklaar is not the best example, he has a high tendency to show up out of shape to all shows and very poor conditioned.

actually in my opinion the first pro that i know of that competed with a big belly was mr. heavy duty himself. yep in 1979 mike mentzer had a huge gut when he relaxed. looked horrible! pics are in an old muscle builder i have. i was like 14 at the time and even then said wtf! his was so bad that in 1980 arnold told him "he had a big belly" before they competed. pissed ole mike off so bad . lol arnold of course won and mike well he went nuts. never was the same. i believe his guy was from insulin. he had done an article for muscle builder on tim belknap who was a diabetic and was huge and i think mike started doing insulin and or maybe growth . back then they got it ( growth)from dead people. ewww. i have no proof just my opinion. like i said he looked great when tight. when relaxed huge gut and looked terrible. i too wish we would return to the old ways. everyone was unique not carbon copies of each other and they were all huge but in the right places they looked athletic and could actually walk/run etc.

But I think he has no chance 1st because of his age 2nd because bodybuilding has become about mass more than anything else...
He made a good comeback from a long layoff and injurys though for his age.

I believe it is the Pittsburgh Pro which just happened this past weekend. I've never seen Shawn get that big in his offseason before. Perhaps it's a new strategy, but that is very much out of hand. I cant get over how large his waist is in the video.
