those of you who train alone

I used to work out with mghoward before I switched gyms. He knows how to spot proper. Now I ask the regulars that know how to spot to help me out. Its a trial and error finding a good spotter. I hate when motherfuckers keep their hands on the bar the entire time. It mind fucks me and ruins each rep.

I actually like the smith machine, its right by the squat rack so I get to look at mad ass when the bitches use it.
And the bad ass bitches on the smith machine don't mind fuck you when benching? Dam them chicks got all the power.

I train alone most days for a few reasons. Schedule conflicts and style differences. I like to train balls to the wall with minimum rest between sets and not get caught in to conversations. My gym can be pretty social.

If I need a spot on a heavy set, I just ask. Somebody is always willing and since I been at this gym as long as I have, I know who to trust.

When I was young, I always trained with a partner. Had the same one for twenty plus years until I moved east and left his ass in Cali. Still good friends.

No spotter. No Smith machines.

Know your capabilities, and leave the collars off. Can always dump the plates if you can't roll out from it. I hit failure often enough to want a better system, but it works for now.
What's a collar?

I like having a partner because I find my self only having around 15-20 sec rest if I don't. I remember the hardest I ever tried was in school weight lifting when I could only bench/squat the bar and the teacher put me. In the group with the big guys. I was embarrassed as hell but really tried. I like training with the biggest and strongest people I can

This is what I thought collars were for:

i actually like training by myself, but I've been training with others since I've realised how much harder you can go having someone there to spot you etc..

how do you guys who do train solo do it? for example with bench press, I'm guessing theres a lot more smith machine exercises thrown in there? how do you push to lift as heavy as possible?

I trained on my own for a long time. You can do most anything just as well. I did dumb bell bench instead of barbell. I would get someone to spot me on shoulder presses.

I'm not social in the gym. I think it's a distraction. It bugged the hell out of me when someone would start a conversation, unless I was being asked for a spot.

The difference in total muscle engagement for barbell vs smith is astounding. Not to mention the smith puts your shoulders in a vulnerable state.

I know when I'll fail on the next rep. If I have a spotree I may force a rep but I really don't do that more than once. Once you start to fail you generally lose form based on instincts (elbows flare, shoulders come up, etc.)

My advice is to log your workouts. If you don't know for sure what rep range you should be performing on a said exercise, that tells me you aren't logging your workouts.

well I train alone I do fast paced triple to four in a row super sets no rest. for example 205 on bench is not my usual bench but when you go strait to flyswatter incline then Peck deck and over again it gets heavy but I can get that off me when failed that's how I train back also. but some days ill check my weight

Wtf is flyswatter inclines?

That bad huh? I've noticed there for sale a lot in the use equipment section news papers and.local fylers.
You can find a good half rack for 300$. Barbell + weights + adjustable bench probably closer to $400. If you're gonna workout at home its your best bet. Those prices are for brand new equipment, but you can usually find used weight sets on craiglist, local ads, etc.

You could then squat, deadlift, Military press, bench press (incline/flat), bb curls, bb rows, bb shrugs, cleans, upright rows, and some more stuff I'm forgetting.

Think I had the bowflex beat at squat.

I have to use free weights. Free is the key word in freedom (I assume the dom is short for dominate or maybe dominatrix).

Machines are made to serve. Just like many people were made to serve for hundreds of years. So machines in the gym were built by the man to subconsciously take us all back to that level.

Also who is serving who. The machines have us humans lifting heavy weights, and they choose the directions we go. We have no say. It is obviously the 1st step to machines taking over and judgement day!

To sum up Free weights = freedom
Machines = slavery and machine overlords taking over the human race.

SAY NO TO MACHINES!

Skynet is upon us!! only the yoked will survive!
