I’m just curious why were so concerned with slavery 200 years ago vs slavery that is still happening across all races.

He supported the Corwin Amendment right up until he started his illegal war, that Amendment to the Constitution would make slavery permanent. The corwin amendment was specifically drafted to prevent incoming president Lincoln from abolishing slavery.
