I am 3 weeks out from a bodybuilding contest. This would not be a maintenance diet for me. I am doing 60 minutes fasted cardio as well.

This is my 3rd contest prep and this combination has been the absolute best for me to get shredded and minimize suffering. Key word is minimize. Ultimately trying to reduce insulin spikes as much as possible. My metabolism absolutely destroys carbs by themselves and when I crash my body feels like it’s burning. The cravings are so intense it’s almost like I go blind lol. It has been great for diet compliance....zero cheating so far. If I feel my hunger is getting unbearable I will bump protein up a bit and/or fats.

@Worf

Yes I am doing a similar approach.

Meal 1 - 1 whole egg, 6 oz 96/4 beef, 4 oz egg whites, vegetables

Meal 2 - 6 oz chicken, 10 g EVOO, vegetables

Meal 3 - 6 oz flank steak, 10 g grape seed oil, vegetables

Meal 4 (Pre workout) - 6 oz 99/1 turkey breast, 10 g flax oil, 1 cup brown rice

Meal 5 (Post Workout) - 60 g of whey isolate, 4 oz unsweetened apple sauce, 3 caramel rice cakes

Meal 6 - 4 oz salmon with 4 oz egg whites and vegetables

I will remove carbs post workout depending on my weight. I will also have a high carb junk day for meal 6 if I feel my metabolism is getting burned out. This will be gas station junk sugary stuff. It really gets my metabolism blazing!
Thanks for this bro

Good luck with the show, you have the right attitude. What do you get up to for maintenance?

How exactly are you throwing down those egg whites?

Im definitely eating health fats. Obviously the idea is to slow absorption of the carbs with fats, certain fat sources are supposed to be a good source for energy , substitutes for carbs etc. I use the strategy, I just feel miserable when I do it. once the body fat loss really starts I loose energy fast even if Im not doing a crazy deficit
What are you considering “low carb”? Likely it’s an electrolyte imbalance causing you to feel like shit. Need more sodium, magnesium, and potassium. Also, your body probably doesn’t know how to effectively burn fat for fuel unless you go <30g carbs for 4-8 weeks. If you’re on a caloric deficit your body is likely just storing these healthy fats as it prepares for starvation mode.

<100g
I am supplementing magnesium and sodium, not potassium. I can try that. No way Im doing 30 g of carbs for 4 weeks. Id loose my job.
