I would never say either way. I do recommend running a virtual machine then booting it up from a usb - if I was to use it , allegedly of course

I will tell you this much. I do run my main pc on a chained vpn. Then I boot a virtual machine that is also on a vpn.

I either run qubes or tails, and both can be booted from a stick. Qubes is particularly interesting because it basically acts like everything is breach. So if you open an imagine or an attached file from email, it throws that file into its own virtual machine so it’s unable to effect anything else on the Operating system
Whats a chained VPN? Like multiple vpns? This seems excessive just to stream or pirate some movies. I wont ask too many other questions because at face value, seems like you're doing more than just whats on the surface. Gotta stay on your good side apparently. Dont want you getting my old dick pics from before i kept it trimmed up. That would be imbarrassing.

Yeah, running more than 1 vpn is overkill for average joe.

I used to do a lot of “dark web” shit, still paranoid lol.

Chained vpns is exactly that, running one VPN into another. What’s more important is that your VPN does not record logs. The way it works is

Internet service provider (isp) sends you the IP and can see where you are connected to. When you connect to a virtual private network (VPN) that’s all your ISP can see. But if they record, then there is 0 security. It would be like titter using proton mail, but saving all of them.

So what you are ideally going for is

ISP —-> TOR ——> VPN ——> website
Mine is set up

ISP —> TOR —> VPNx2 —> virtual machine with bootable OS ->tor-vpn

Are you able to still maintain reasonable speeds running through all that or does it get bogged down and laggy?

My internet is plenty fast, and I only will run VPNs that do not throttle and do not log. So I do not bog down for internet

My “old” pc is not a Walmart computer. It is 8 core overclocked and 16 gigs of ram. So I allocate 8 gigs to the virtual machine and 8 to my actual computer. I also do not run the virtual machine all the time , just when do things I should not lol
