Trucks

Previous owner knowledge? Guessing it's a 36 month lease that's up for sale now. I had a 1998 f150 that was still on the road until very recently. have to admit that it ended up in central Florida about 10 years ago with my old man so rust wasn't a major issue. Dependable as a mother fucker. I'm loving my 01 gmc 2500hd with a Allison trans but it is rusty. Lol, really rusty these days
My 95 still runs like a champ with cold ac and all power. The sun has fucked the paint royally but whatever it's 23 years old. That being said I keep the ram Hemi crew 4x in the garage. I fucking love that one! Was always a ford guy until I drove a ram. It actually feels like I'm driving a truck and the f150 felt cheap and lacked power. The Rams independent suspension really helps with drivablity and comfort. I also like the Chevy or gmc but my opinion is the interior still looks like it's 20 years behind the times. Jmo.

So he said people prefer the V6 turbo?
The new 2018 5.0 in the f150 produces more power than the hemi powered ram at 395 hp and 400 lb ft tq but back in its earlier forms the 5.0 in the f150 was less to the tune of 360 hp and 380 lb ft tq. Personally i dont get it. I got the old 5.4 and that is only 300hp and 365lh ft tq. I have and have never thought i lacked anything in power. Personally i think car ppl go and buy a truck and they look for different things. Because i remember when the 5.7 hemi first came out it only made 345 hp and everybody was goo goo gaga. So i say just buy what u like(shrugs shoulders). None of it makes any sense. People are fickle if u ask me.

Also detuning is a crazy thing. Ford detunes their products like crazy. So does Chevy. Toyota and Dodge tend to put their best foot forward. And the end product is about the best its gonna get. So theres a long history especially with ford of releasing a powerplant and as years go on they release more and more power in the later models. I cant think of one example where that doesnt hold true. A simple tuner will bring it out of it. I got one for my 5.3L Tahoe and you aint pulling away from me in any truck. The tune takes away alot of that pesky torque management and also adds 16hp. Which is one thing to say but the actual reality of HOW the truck applies that unbridled power w/o torque management getting in the way is a wonderful and eye opening thing. Ask the police. Ever seen a 5.3L police tahoe ripping ass? Tuner

And remember the 5.0L f150 is the same platform as the 5.0 mustang. The f150 is detuned for truck duty. That engine is world class.

How does tuning affect fuel economy? Can it be tuned for that and if so, how many more mpg do you think you could get out of it?

I wouldnt ever buy a tuner for mpg. Its only going to severly hamper power output. I have that as my 4th tune on my diablo for my 5.3L tahoe and it sucks. I got 4 tunes. 87 stock, 87 performance, 93 performance and mpg saver tune. Once i flashed the 87 performance tune i havent looked back. I was getting 20 mpg out of that tahoes 5.3 but the tune took that down to 17.5mpg but 8ts a far superior machine to the way it was before. I have close to zero torque management on it. Nearly all its power is available when ever i want it. The stock setting is some thing like 70% tq management. Meaning the engines true power is held back about 70% changing thru gears and low speed operations. Those slow speed off the line pulls. That pause between nothing and wide open throttle etc etc. No more. Its got it before i even ask for it now. And tbh if fuel mileage is a huge concern then u shouldnt be buying a truck

My 16 Ecoboost.

My brother has a 17 250.

My family has owned MANY trucks of every make. I like some things about all of them.

The Ecoboost is a fucking hoss. I've impressed diesel guys and sports car guys with what mine can do, and I haven't really done much to mine to really open up the performance.

I have a car too so it's not a huge concern. Just needed my curiosity satisfied. How much does a good tuner go for?

Every brand has a favorite brand of tuner. SCT is big with the ford guys. Has more premiere tuning. And Diablo is the GM guys go to. My diablo trinity x3 went for $380. Got the handheld version no lcd monitor or anything. Just flash it and go.

Black bear does custom in person tuning. If u can get in an event theyll be at near u you can get the best custom tune, in person, money can buy

Tell me about your kit man

Bone stock besides leveling kit and little under 35" tires.

Only performance " mods " are top tier 93 octane, good synthetic fluids, and a heavy ass foot.

Soon as my factory warranty is up I'll get some down pipes and a tuner to really open her up .

Beauty of the twin turbos is u can get a nice power boost from tuning . Like u said, ford is conservative from the factory. My buddy got a good 55 hp and close to 80 lbft off a custom tune and some exhaust Changes on his '12 eco.

GMC holds value better than Chevy for some reason even though they're basically the same truck.

But Ram and GMC are my favorite trucks. I feel like the Rams have a lot more torque.

Just leveled man, promise .

No running boards/sidesteps and the air dam being removed makes it look taller.

Some guys say mine must have sat a little higher from the factory but idk how much.

Yeah i been running a hell bent steel 2.5" spacer under the front for nearly 10 yrs i installed in my garage. Yours is def taller. The back absolutely looks like your running a larger block or maybe add a leaf. Has a nice stance. Ive run everything from skinny mudders 31's to 35's on my leveled f150 and yours has more available wheel well space. Hmmmmmm

Different pic doesn't look quite as tall .I think with nothing to scale it makes it a little tougher to tell how high it is.

If there's an extra leaf it's there from the factory. I'll take a pic when I get home , I wouldn't know what the factory leafs look like or how many. I've only been under my truck lol
