SHOOTING THE DEAD

It’s too easy to draw a cartoon illustrating just how horrible, vile, disgusting, and terrible of a human being that is DonaldTrump. What is more important to the nation is that his supporters allow Trump to be a vile human piece of excrement without suffering any consequences. Each time Trump sinks lower into the cesspool, he takes his supporters with him. For example; Donald Trump is more worried about offending white supremacists than veterans and supporters of the military.
The majority of Trump’s statements are flat-out lies, hogwash, and verifiable bullshit of the first degree. But he was absolutely correct when he said he could shoot a guy on 5th Avenue and not lose any voters. If the guy is black, Mexican, Muslim, or gay, he’d probably gain a few.
For some unknown reason other than being petty, insecure, and being such a nasty piece of poo that even a dung beetle wouldn’t touch it, Donald Trump has been attacking the late Senator John McCain. McCain hasn’t said or done anything recently to disparage or challenge Trump because he’s been dead since last August (if you’re a Republican, that’s more than seven months ago).
John McCain was a war hero who spent over five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam at the infamous Hanoi Hilton. McCain was offered early release but refused to go without his fellow prisoners. While this was going on, Donald Trump was avoiding the war with college deferments and claiming he had bone spurs.
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump said McCain was “not” a hero, then said he was only a hero because he got captured before finishing the shit sandwich with, “I like people who aren’t captured.” Since then, he’s gone on to attack other Gold Star families.
Yesterday, Trump spoke at a tank factory, where they build tanks…for the military…which employs veterans…and Trump spent five minutes bashing McCain. While the audience didn’t erupt into huge cheers or create a new chant, they will probably continue to support Trump. Before the rally outside the White House, Trump said, “I was never a fan of John McCain, and I never will be.” Trump is fighting a dead man and losing.
Where’s the condemnation from veterans and military families that have supported Trump? You can barely scrounge up any outrage from Republicans in the Senate, where many of McCain’s former colleagues are still serving. There are currently 53 Republicans in the Senate and only two have criticized Trump for his attacks on McCain and his family, Georgia’s Johnny Isakson and Utah’s Mitt Romney. His supposed best friend and southern dandy Lindsey Graham has made a pro-McCain statement since the attacks began, but without criticizing Trump for his comments. That took some dandy weaseling. Graham is as afraid of upsetting Trump supporters as Trump is at upsetting nazis.
It’s been seven days since the white nationalist terror attack in New Zealand that killed 50 Muslims. Trump has yet to say anything negative about white supremacists, white nationalists, Nazis, or any racists, but he has spent just about the entire time attacking McCain. Trump believes you’re more devoted to your racism than to the military. He feels he can attack a POW and you won’t leave, but if he says “Nazis aren’t always the nicest people,” then you may bail and find a more racist Republican, which would be a huge challenge. Good luck with that.
Trump complained that McCain gave the dossier, written about his connections to Russia, to the FBI instead of calling him. Trump is upset that McCain was more patriotic than treasonous. Trump also said it was up to him that McCain got the funeral he did and that Trump never received a thank you. Seriously.
Trump is more sensitive than your Aunt Ingrid who got upset she never received a Christmas card for the itchy ugly sweater she gave you.
Trump has zero regards for other people. He’s currently trying to destroy the Conway marriage and he doesn’t care that the McCain family has to constantly hear a 72-year-old racist toddler scream about their deceased husband and father. As a bonus and thanks to Trump, the family is receiving hateful messages from his supporters.
My father was a war hero who served in Vietnam. He was wounded. He’s buried in a military cemetery. We weren’t particularly close but I love him. If someone was trashing him, I know how I’d feel about it. I wouldn’t vote for that person. I have siblings, one a parent to members of the military, and they still support Trump. Now, imagine Trump was attacking your father.
It doesn’t matter to people like Kellyanne Conway that at some point, her children are going to see which side she stood on when a vile human being like Donald Trump attacked their father. It doesn’t matter to Trump supporters in the military community that he attacks one of their own. It doesn’t matter to them to see how little he respects them, their families, or their service.
The biggest reason Donald Trump continues to attack John McCain is that McCain was a better man than he’ll ever be. If you still support Trump, you’re the worst you can be.
