MESO-Rx is please to announce the publication of a new article sharing research by April Henning and Jesper Andreasson on USADA efforts to become the world's anti-doping policeman.

Henning and Andreasson explore how the United States, particularly through its Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), exploited the Russian doping scandal to challenge the authority of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and redefine anti-doping governance through national interests via the enactment of the Rodchenkov Act.

Interesting how Russia is inextricably linked to the anti-steroid culture in the states. The U.S. govt/media has leveraged Soviet/Russian doping scandals to portray Russians as chemically enhanced systematic cheaters. This extends to fictional stories, too; look at Ivan Drago v. Rocky (the irony). On the other hand, American athletes win medals solely through their work ethic. Steroid use is therefore highly "un-American," which adds another layer of complexity to the issue.
