5% of US adults have this (fibrosing fatty liver), and now qualify for Wegovy if their insurance covers it (most do). In the later stages of fatty liver tissue starts to get fibrotic, just before permanent scarring (cirrhosis). Fatty liver is becoming very common (30% of adults), but often undiagnosed:

 
Good to know. I run 2.5 a week for whatever benefits it has and it's cheap af. I'm not fat so hopefully it's helping the liver.

A large part is from weight loss, but a portion comes from direct effects, like increased hepatic insulin sensitivity. So even without weight loss, just staying on it will stop further deposits of fat in the liver, and chip away at existing liver disease until it's all gone.
