What are your women using for home defense?

If I'm not home her first line of defense is the dog. While he's doing his thing she can grab one of the handguns we keep accessible. She's comfortable with them.

Honestly just the dog barking will scare most away. I have a couple "Beware of dog", signs next to my doors too. He barks like a fucking vicious wolf. I'm sure he would bite if threatened, but damn my baby fireball is the sweetest boy in the entire world. He gives the best snuggles. He likes to lodge his snout and push his face under my armpit and just sit there. He does this between people's thighs too which sounds awkward but it isn't. It's really sweet and funny. Using us to cover his eyes seems to be his "safe place" where nobody can see him lmao

Does anyone else have the following fears?

1. Somehow an investigation shows you bought gear and cops show up with a no knock warrant and bust down your door. Especially if they are plainclothes (think Breonna Taylor) and you try to defend your family.

2. Cops show up at the wrong fucking house and bust down your door thinking you're some Heroin dealer or something. Again. You have gun in hand and they decide to shoot you because you're a threat or something.

3. This is why no knock warrants should be illegal: bad guys get cop outfits and fake badges and kick down your door saying POLICE YOURE UNDER ARREST! they handcuff you then rape your woman in front of your then kill her and leave you (or kill you both). You dog will likely be killed too.

The idea that just because someone has a uniform on means we should instantly submit is insane. If they wanna get in they should legally be required to ring the doorbell twice and knock. If theres no answer after some period of time, THEN they dan break down the door. Also one cop should have one of those dog catchers so they don't have to kill people's pets... I saw a video of some cops I think from Alaska joking about shooting this guy's dog as they were asking to enter the house. They didn't know he had a camera at his front door and he posted it. Only an evil person would needlessly murder a dog.

IMO...if someone doesnt knock I am shooting. Like wtf. That is why I get peace of mind from my self defense insurance which allows for unlimited dollars towards defense situations for attorneys as well as a ton of money for bail and everything. @NorthMich @Mac11wildcat I recommend you check out CCA. It is pricey but as I said....at least it provides some peace of mind and gives you a fighting chance to live a free life if by some chance some shit happens. Even if a burglar breaks in and you shoot him, he or his family an sue you for shooting him! It's insane. For $500-700 per year I say it is well worth it!!

I made a couple edits it may be worth rereading. Anyway, the most important thing is to scope out your house and have plans for various scenarios. At night while you're sleeping? Also consider if you take any mediations to sleep. If so, have your partner switch the alarm to test mode and set it off at some point while you're sleeping so you can TRULY gauge how long it'd take while sedated. You may have wobbly vision or be less coordinated and shit.

Also I keep my extra mags AT my position (as well as next to my gun of course just in case I can't get into position). Love the mag connectors that let you have two mags attached to one another. I don't want to have to grab a gun and mags I want to grab the gun and know my mags are there for me when I get to my spot.

What about during the day? Morning? While you're chilling in the evening? I live by the "never more than 3 seconds away from a firearm rule" lol.

My navy seal trainer friend told me "You cannot physically go somewhere thay your mind has not yet gone." In other words...you need to think these things through if you want to have a hope or responding the "right" way. Physical practice is critical as well. Go to the range or find a place you can safely shoot and practice with various targets and practice reloading and everything with various guns. Just get comfortable with it all.

I am not a big fan of the way AK mags pop in. You have to angle then properly to feed it. I suspect te Komrad would be the same but idk. AR mags are so easy. Just smash it in there and hit the bolt release and you're golden baby.

Also make sure to have a FUCK THIS LETS BAIL plan lol. Grab your bug out bag and leave until it is safe.
I'm actually very new to firearms, like 3 months in. I bought 3 different 9mms and been practicing. It's a lot easier said than done, I always assumed Hitting the target would be easier.

My plan is a ton of range time, with continued research into technique. I want to become extremely skilled with it, enough to feel comfortable carrying. For now, they're in my home for self defense. I don't know how long it takes people to get good, but I'm determined...Regardless of the ammo cost.

Completely agree. Completely.

Also agree on the dog.

Also on the no-knock bullshit

I got my wife a Taurus 22 mag revolver with defense ammunition, yea I know it’s just a 22 mag but I wanted a gun she could just keep squeezing and not have to worry about a potential jam or clearing the chamber. It’s an 8 short revolver, she’s sort of scared of guns but she’s shot that one before.

I have a 13 year old son with 4 loaded guns in his bedroom and 2 pitbulls also. I do have an AR-15 and 2 other shotguns but she wouldn’t be able to access those in time or be proficient in shooting them due to their size and recoil. I have guns in all 3 bedrooms of my home, and 2 other 9mm handguns in an office room. I’m working on something small and accessible for the living room area as well as a kitchen drawer. I’m going to get the magnets you can mount under an end table or desk. I don’t like the fact that you have to access a dresser drawer for a handgun, which means getting out of bed to do so. I want something as easy as reaching over next to you if you’re lying in bed. When ppl break in it happens fast and there isn’t much warning, there usually isn’t time to fuck around and load shells and stumble around looking for shit, and you damn sure don’t wanna fuck with a gun safe because of time. Call me crazy but most ppl serious abt home defense have something accessible in almost any area of the house.

It’s also wise to educate yourself on gun laws and laws of home defense. For example, let’s say you have to plug someone that breaks in, in most states you’ll get off on that. Now, let’s take that same situation and after you shot them standing up, you walked over to them and shot down to finish them off. Yea, now you’re going to jail for awhile in most cases

Which is why it’s important to blast the shit out of that motherfucker while they’re standing up. But in a perfect world I’ll tell you what you do….

You have a 12 gauge with the first shot bird shot so you at least catch ‘em, then the next shot is buckshot to do some critical damage, and the next shot is a slug so you’re damn good and sure they’re dead before the police or ambulance arrives

Of if you’re fortunate enough to have magnesium rounds you can hit them with one of those and melt them when the round burns at 4,000 degrees farenheight

One gun I wanna get my hands on is a PSA dagger 9mm, they’re interchangeable with Glock parts and they sell a package deal that comes with 5 clips of 15 rounds and 5 clips that are 27 rounds. A 27 round clip is a lot of firepower, and it’s a double stack that mounts flush to the grip

This package is on sale rt now for 409-

That’s 10 clips and a carry bag plus the gun. Everyone I know who has shot this gun is telling me for the money they’ll go with this over Glock, plus you have the threaded barrel that comes standard with it. This is definitely going to be my next gun purchase. They also have an AR/pistol combo package on sale rt now for 749-, you save 300$ buying the package. No, I don’t need it, but I think I need it

There's also a S&W MP9 Shield Plus bug out bag bundle on sale for around the same price, good deal. I had purchased a performance center model before seeing the deal, else I would have grabbed one.

I wish the shield plus was available when I bought my shield. The 8+1 clips just aren’t enough capacity if you’re dealing with multiple attackers. HOWEVER, the shield is still my go-to carry gun because it’s so comfortable and slim! That’s the prob with guns, you have to give something up to get something in almost any case carrying concealed

I like my sig 9mms best.

Glocks are great. They set the standards for service and reliability. But now many others have improved on their design.

Whatever you get. I recommend an easy to use light laser like a streamlight TLR-10 (it would be big for many guns though, its a beast light). I'm not using the laser for practice because being accurate without it is much more important, but at home at night I'd much rather paint a dot and have 15-17 9mm hp rounds at my disposal and an extra mag or two nearby than have a shotgun with maybe 7 rounds that I need to conserve. My CCW is a sig that holds 13. Just iron sights though. I love the sig irons
