I was hoping you wouldn't respond. If we need to continue, let's head over to political discourse.
Without knowing your type of business, I would venture to assume it is not the same structure as a fast food chain. I respect your position, but when you have thousands of employees at various skill levels, they are compensated per their skill level. Therefore, if the market dictates you can pay a certain wage for a certain position, you pay that wage. I'll further assume you are not set up as a corporation with shareholders. The primary purpose of any corporation is to maximize shareholder value. Therefore, comparing your small business to the point of our discussion is apples to oranges. I appreciate your position, but when multiple owners are involved, profit is #1 bottom line.
Even though you are generous with your employees, you have a certain equilibrium with your income statement. You know how much you need to make vs your overhead. How would you like if the government came in and dictated your wages and compensation? If you're honest, you wouldn't like that. You may not consider it the same, but it's identical to my point. The MARKET dictates how much a CEO makes. If a business cuts that CEO salary in order to raise min wage, he goes to the competition. Simple as that.
Look at the multiple businesses (many of which supported a min wage increase) in Seattle that have now gone out of business because the increased wages crushed them. You can't allow government to involve themselves in the free market. It's a doomed situation everytime. What business has the government ran successfully? Medicare? Solyndra? USPS? Social Security? There's no grey are, you're either free market or not
