Where's all my military brothers

USAF AFSC 1C4X1. TACP/JTAC. 16 years of service. Retired medically. Stationed at Hurby field Ft. Walton Beach, POPE AFB Fayetville NC, Ft. Benning Georgia. Served 95-2010 and loved every second of it.
I spent 8 years at Bragg working with the CC, TACP and the other guys on the compound

My house was broken into 3 times while I was at work, and one time I was held up at gun point in the Skibo Walmart parking lot... placeis a hell hole

House got robbed 3 times and was at gun point in a Walmart parking lot on a Friday night off Skibo
Fukin A man. I saw some crazy shit, but nothing like that. A lot of 82nd airborne fags who thought they were Hitlers fukin storm troopers. Saw one drive by but damn, robbed 3 times. Haven't been there in over 8 years. Heard it got worse.

Yeah you were probably leaving as I was just getting there. It got way worse, one Of the early news stories I saw when I first moved there (which was close to my apartment complex) was of a couple teenagers walking into a donut shop (think it was called Donut Connection) and was shooting heads with a 12G shot gun, this was in Spring Lake though on Bragg blvd I think...........

Diesel mechanics make a butt load of money

Mechanics will skills demand top pay these days
Work for cummins, detroit diesel or a variety of other places and you can make some dough
While this is True, my buddy who got out 8 months ago is now a diesel mechanic, and he's having the same problem he was trying go avoid being in. Works 60+ hours a week and has no time for his family. Sure the money's good but like I said I'd like to get my degree, being a diesel mechanic and trying to go to school at the same time would be awful. It's def a good fall back plan though. I mean I could always just work at a autoparts store and make decent money.

Don't know how long you've been doing it but when I was in trade school before I joined the army my instructor said as a technician it usually takes about 8 years and then you're burned out on it. It took me about 6 and I was lookin for a different trade. Ended up going into a trade that makes 30+ an hour after the 4 year apprenticeship program.

Like I don't want to sound like a pussy but there's no way I can do mechanical work, especially diesel mechanic shit for 5 plus years, I'd be dead. Sometimes I get home from work with just working 7-8 hours with pains everywhere and my joints feeling like shit. Major props to the old guys still busting there ass off doing that shit. Just not for me.

To be honest, I'm hoping to be able to reclass to something medical, because I'm thinking about becoming a PA which is a program the army offers, but I need to have a bachelors first. If I do something medical the ait will take care of a lot of requirements I need and also it'll help getting my foot in the water with this new field of work.

I know I sound like a undecisive women but it seriously just boils down to just getting enough college under my belt to be able to do this things. Idk what I'm going to do tbh. I'll have to decide within the next 2-3 months if I want to re-enlist or not.

Entrepreneurs make the world go round. Do what you know, save your money and be your own boss in time. Everything is not a dead end and a degree doesnt guarantee success or EVEN that you have a brain. Certainly wouldnt hurt. Just have a plan and be determined. Good things happen.

Or you could go out and buy a big lifted diesel truck and drop 60-80 grand in the process like all your peers. Play stupid games win stupid presents. 60 grand could of got your business started...

Not sure if the army still has the program. But they used to offer soldiers an opportunity to become a PA. And it would allow to leave your MOS and begin your studies. Something worth researching.

Yes they do but there are certain college requirements you have to meet among other things like letters of recommendations and asvab scores etc etc. Though I'm sure I could get those letters np and my asvab score is high so I'm good on those fronts.

If Thisbe your plan get after it and start grinding to achieve it. I didn't use any of my ta for school and ended up using my gi bill and got 2 degrees in which I don't use either one as I just jumped Ina different trade. If you don't wanna be busting your ass to make some cheddar like many of us do, get your degree and don't stop striving for more.

I may have missed it before, have you CLEP'd any courses to get things going in the right direction? If not, it can save a ton of time!

I'm using ta now. But Idk if it would be better to get out, go to school full time and try to get back into active as a officer through the PA program or stay in using the ta to get the required college for the PA program. Staying in and only doing 1 maybe 2 college classes a semester will take me like 3 years. Idk bro, hard choices.
