Who has a friend like this?

First off i want to preface this by saying there is absolutely nothing wrong with being proud if the way you look. Its great to he confident in your body regardless of what it looks like.

Anyway i have this friend who is constantly bragging about how big he is and how much he can lift. He always brags about how much he can curl, or leg press all the stupid shit no one goves a fuck about. He always squats well above parrallel becaise the right way is "bad for your knees." Now I dont lift with him so I've always been encouraging to the guy. Ive never called him on his bullshit because I never want to discourage anyone from the gym.

Today he sent a pic saying look at what I curled today and that hes bigger than me. No skin off my back, but the reality is he's a typical fat fuck who thinks hes big (doesnt matter but im pretty positive my measurements are better than his, even with his fat and even though im shorter)

This dude is in serious need of a reality check. Should i just be a dick like I want to be or tell him another way? I would invite him to the gym and show him the proper way to lift but he lives out of state.
 
I don't have any friends like that.

All I know is I am way bigger than anyone in my gym. And I can curl more than all of you. Follow me on Instagram bro.

Edit: What's your max leg press?? And did you see me talking to that girl at the front?

Have you tried offering constructive criticism? When i see my friends on social media doing something stupid i usually just try to point them in the right direction.

Definitely stop enabling him though..maybe instead of "hey thats great bro" you could try "gee willikers, that sure is swell, but maybe you should try it this way"

Or instead of "wow bro great curl and leg press stats" try "hey, thats a pretty impressive curl, but did you know that nobody fucking cares how much you can curl? Maybe you should try some real lifts instead?"

A coworker of mine was telling me that his high school football coaches told him to stop working out his lower body because it was getting to big. Claims he was squating 750# for reps in high school.

I straight up told him that he was remembering history incorrectly, do yourself a favor and look up squat records/videos. 750# is elite, never mind for reps - in high school!!

He backed off a bit, said he thinks it was the leg press and maybe not the squat. I told him if he was really squating anywhere near 750#, even once, to do himself a favor and start power lifting.

People are crazy man

I cant tell you how many washed up 20, 30, 40, 50 year olds once benched 500. Ran a 4.1 40, could bent barbell row 315x 12 when they were 16, have 12" cocks, were former NAVY SEALS, former UFC contenders, who once were the baddest dude in town, had a car with 1000 rwhp(TO THE GROUND!), has the best looking woman ever, created the kama sutra, believes that a ton of gear and a fancy chin strap w/ a white pride tattoo = baddest street brawler ever.

That's like most people in the gym. I tell my friends if they embarrass me at the gym I will not train with them.

The ones that piss me off the most are the guys who offer unsolicited lifting advice to EVERYONE.

I got a buddy just like this, I passed him up a long time ago and guess what? We havn't lifted together since.

Same here , Ive had to cut a few friends loose before , I can not handle liars and no-it-alls , they are in their own little world . But if you really call them on it they have nothing to bring ...

"I asked you what you weight bench NOT what you machine bench on the Universal". Big difference o_O lol

you know man, a year ago I wouldn't have cared. This PL journey isn't easy, it takes a fair amount of dedication and effort at the very least. Never mind trying to be something better than average! Kind of pisses me off when half ass people claim they are more than they are.

These days when someone that is 5'10" and 160lbs with no gym experience since the last millennium tells me they would crush sets of 750 in high school I can't help but to blow that shit up. Battleship sunk kid o_O

It pisses me off, too. It makes a mockery of the glorious sport when people make false claims when we all put in years of hard work.

I used to squat 600, bench 450 and deadlift 750 means I used to use the bar pad to do knee bends with 225, Smith machine benched 250 once and rack pulled 405.
 
There is this guy I work with and he always talks like he knows everything there is about fitness. Today he was telling me how to get seriously cut and how to eat ect ect when he has zero definition. I'm a nice guy but when I'm at my best in this current cycle I'm just gonna lift up my shirt and be like ,"I know bro" and shut him the hell up once and for all lol I wont do that until I got those abs just staring back at you

How many callouses have you built gripping the unforgiving knurling of the bar? How many days you have sore joints from benching heavy? How many times have you stood underneath a monumental weight and dared to squat with it down past your asshole? Their stealing some thing they didnt earn. Give them no mercy.
