Who has a friend like this?

Life isn't that complicated. We are who we are. If you don't like who you are then change yourself. Talk Is fucking cheap.

Malcolm gladwell wrote a book called outliers. Good read for a dude like me. One of his chapters he talks about the 10,000 hour rule. It takes at a minimum that many hours to become a master at anything. That's 5 years full time work folks. That means if you're part time at something that time frame extends, potentially by a substantial amount!

When the day comes and I'm considered an expert I will most likely crush people when they lie about physical abilities. I would eviscerate folks that lie about military service if was military.

People consistently remember history incorrectly. Especially the ones who are lying
I cant tell you how many washed up 20, 30, 40, 50 year olds once benched 500. Ran a 4.1 40, could bent barbell row 315x 12 when they were 16, have 12" cocks, were former NAVY SEALS, former UFC contenders, who once were the baddest dude in town, had a car with 1000 rwhp(TO THE GROUND!), has the best looking woman ever, created the kama sutra, believes that a ton of gear and a fancy chin strap w/ a white pride tattoo = baddest street brawler ever.

The ones that get me the most are the washed up 20&30 yr olds. ROFLMAO

BOTTOMLINE?
dont cosign anyones bullshit. The truth is gasoline on fire in the face of hypocrisy
Always the guys standing behind me in the gas station with a case of beer who are these guys!!!

Pretty sure you're talking about Pericles.

It pisses me off, too. It makes a mockery of the glorious sport when people make false claims when we all put in years of hard work.

I used to squat 600, bench 450 and deadlift 750 means I used to use the bar pad to do knee bends with 225, Smith machine benched 250 once and rack pulled 405.

Ive lost count of these " once i was great" dudes that have asked to work out with me, then quit!!!! Last guy made it through 1-1/2 weeks before he stopped showing up. Something about not being able to walk without pain for days after legs broke him. But he is a nice guy, he just didnt want it as bad as he thought!!

First off i want to preface this by saying there is absolutely nothing wrong with being proud if the way you look. Its great to he confident in your body regardless of what it looks like.

Anyway i have this friend who is constantly bragging about how big he is and how much he can lift. He always brags about how much he can curl, or leg press all the stupid shit no one goves a fuck about. He always squats well above parrallel becaise the right way is "bad for your knees." Now I dont lift with him so I've always been encouraging to the guy. Ive never called him on his bullshit because I never want to discourage anyone from the gym.

Today he sent a pic saying look at what I curled today and that hes bigger than me. No skin off my back, but the reality is he's a typical fat fuck who thinks hes big (doesnt matter but im pretty positive my measurements are better than his, even with his fat and even though im shorter)

This dude is in serious need of a reality check. Should i just be a dick like I want to be or tell him another way? I would invite him to the gym and show him the proper way to lift but he lives out of state.

I would probably just shake it off. If he needs to embellish to feel good about himself then I'd probably just let him have that instead of blowing up his spot. It's just insecurity on his end and lack of accomplishment.

If thats all our conversations consisted of I'd most likely just not talk to him.

I really don't care, he just doesn't shut the fuck up about it. More irritating than anything. You can only take so much of someone who is so full of shit it's coming out of their ears.

There's a ton of guys like that, they're in every gym. I'm so used to it now I don't say anything. I will out perform and look better side by side in most cases too. I'd say lift with him once and let your lifting do the talking.

He is just really insecure. We all have friends like this or know someone random like this. It has been interesting now that I'm back into working out I'm getting these comments as well from a few friends. When I was not working out no one said shit... It's like when people see you building muscle, making money, doing something they want to do, next thing you know they've been doing it before you and they're much greater at it than you lol

This is why all my time is spent with my dogs and my son. None of them talk, they just do things. And all 3 of them are strong as shit. Make me look like a pansy.

None of them talk
Dont rush the talking. Once they start they will never shut up
Then theyll be throwing tantrums, arguing with you. Defying you and before you know it theyll be going thru puberty. Then its a whole new ball game.

Just remember.
DAD ALWAYS RULES THE HOUSE

That sentence will mean more to you as you go thru this fatherhood journey. Dont ever forget it. And dont ever let anyone mistake it

Breaking my heart trukk!
It's been pretty awesome watching him grow up. From barely being able to lift his head, to shimmying across the railing of his crib. Gotta take it day by day.

The worst number is 500. I'm a pretty big guy, I tend to attract gym rats to get told stories from skinny-fat fuckers who tell me that they can pretty much play patty-cake with 500lb bench presses, or 500lb DLs, or 500lb squats until they "blew out their knee". It's easier to talk about doing shit than doing it.
Worst thing is dealing with a delusional lifter. Can you imagine what he tells his non-lifter friends? Fuck.
