Who here is on a statin?

Start at a lower doses
10/20 mg then up slowly and add amlodipine with better effects

80mg is a strong dose if it safe ? Depend of the person but not the safest dose for sure
80mg is half the maximum dosage is not that strong. My question was different.

Amlodipine is inferior compared to nebivolol your suggestion is meh

I have been on 20mg Telmisartan for a while now. Recently my BP increased over a 7 day period so I increased to 40mg. 2 weeks later I had labs and my potassium was out of range. It had always been high, but within range. So I dropped back down to 20mg and added Amlodipine. Now my BP average is 117/75. But I agree. Amdolipine is inferior to Telmisartan. I have 12 months worth of Nebivolol and I am going to test out small doses and see what my BP and resting HR averages are.

Just do telmisartan and nebivolol best combo ever for us bodybuilder

It also doesn't mean low cholesterol causes cancer, which I've seen is some of the latest conspiracy theories about statins.
They used to say statins caused dementia (far too many still think this), and the complete opposite has shown to be true. We now know that high LDL is a strong risk factor in dementia, and statins are not linked with any cognitive decline at all.

Up to 80mg included it's safe long term? Or max safe dose long term is 60mg or below?
There are some additional benefits of 80mg of Telmisartan beyond blood pressure, like adiponectin/PPAR/insulin benefits, better endothelial benefits, etc. I stick to 40mg though because my BP got a little too low on 80mg. I also saw a higher than typical potassium level on that dose.

I'm finding Rosuvastatin quite expensive here in eu, what's the deal it's been off patent for ages? Even pct24x7 is pricey!?
PCT Zone is a little cheaper. $3.60 for 10 x 10mg tabs.

And I think they still have their New Years promo going for a few more hours. 25% off using promo code 2025

2.5 of Rosuvastatin for 2 years. I almost typed I've had no sides, but I've been diagnosed with bilateral DCO (while I was not lifting) soon after getting on Rosuvastatin, so it may have caused the DCO I developed earlier to flare up - this thread helped me connect the dots
What is bilateral DCO?

What is bilateral DCO?
I got curious. It’s a type of overuse injury.

Distal clavicular osteolysis (DCO) is a rare condition that is more common among athletes and weight lifters, particularly those who engage in frequent overhead motions. Also referred to as "weight lifter's shoulder."DCO has been classified as occurring by either traumatic or atraumatic means. DCO results from repetitive excess load on the AC joint, typically through horizontal adduction, adduction, internal rotation, and forward/lateral flexion of the shoulder, such as bench pressing or overhead lifting, and causes pain at the acromial clavicle (AC) joint.

I take 40 mg rosuvastatin and 10 mg ezetimibe daily. I have been taking them for years since I have a family history of high cholestorol
these are my blood works from december 24th;

cholesterol PHOT 4.71 mmol/l < 5.18
HDL-cholesterol PHOT 1.53 mmol/l > 0.91
cholesterol/HDL 3.1 ratio
< 2: low risk
2-5: middle risk
> 5: high risk
LDL-cholesterol PHOT 2.54 mmol/l < 3.37
LDL/HDL-risico index 1.7 ratio
cardiovasculair/atherogeen risk:
LDL/HDL < 2.5 : low risk
LDL/HDL > 4.0 : high risk
triglyceriden PHOT 0.90 mmol/l < 2.28

80mg is perfectly safe long term according to all the cardiologists I work with. 10mg isn’t even an effective starting dose.
If i took 80 mg of that i will go hypotension
So no depend i don’t react verry good to this substance
I had also some symptoms with only 40mg of valsartan
It varies a lot from different individual but starting at 80mg is stupid
Always lowered then increase
10mg at 130/85 can be enough no be in the normal range

Yes amlodipine is weak but i didn’t say take it alone
But the compination of a sartan and amlodipin can be good
Even better than a strong dose of just telmisartan

And no in france there is only dose from 10 to 80mg of telmisartan
160mg is crazy high never seen that
And i work at the hospital i see strong prescription everyday but never this not even close

Yep, the thing that puzzled me the most was that I hadn’t been lifting for a few years when I got diagnosed, but I didn’t connect the dots to the new meds. I walk into the doctor’s office, fat as a pig, and the first thing he asks me while looking at the X-ray is, “Do you lift, bro?”

The cortisone shot helped on one side, but I had to get surgery on the other - they cut off half an inch of my clavicle closest to the shoulder joint. That was a bitch to heal. I couldn’t even lift a bar for nine months after the surgery. Definitely not the kind of “weightlifter’s shoulder” anyone wants.

Yes most of the time if you used a strong dose of telmisartan you will have to used a diuretic like indapamide hctz to lowered your potassium
That’s why i said that 80mg of telmisartan isn’t a safe dose

No offense but you’re just saying nonsense. That is not remotely true or accurate.

I agree that when it comes to BP meds less is often more, and it’s better to do small doses of a couple than max dose of one, but to say that you will need a diuretic if you’re on 80mg of telmisartan and that it’s not a safe dose is just completely and utterly absurd and not backed up by the numerous trials on the drug.

I’m also not sure why you have such a hard on for indapamide, like all drugs (including telmisartan) it has risks just like any other drug.
