But i do have respect for Eminem being white,..and getting some recognition in the black community and all different kinds of races.

My question is, why? What does his being white have to do with it?

finafreak said:
and no, i don't think Eminem is a BAD ASS :D

Thank God, but let me ask you this, why would you say that I would not state that my anti-rap comments were positive to eminem?

I actually have quite a bit of respect for RC .......but what I do not understand about your personality is why you are trying to come up with a person that I would fear saying "Rap sucks" to.....is this ultimately leading to "you wouldnt tell that to me"? If so, just get it out and be done with it.

Amen Chipper, 'rap' is crap.

The byproduct of rap: 2 whiteboys calling each other 'nigga'.....worse yet, 2 asians calling each other 'nigga'.....and 'bish'

Desi is pakistani and is roughly freshman or sophmore age and I thus feel validated in calling him 'boy' much as I would call anyone of any color of his age group by that term.......actually, forgive me, out of respect, I would not call a black adolescent 'boy' but anyone else is fair game as far as I am concerned.

ok here's a positive (as positive as it can get) assessment of rap. rap is a venue for the quasi-artistic 'musical-wannabe' expression of those who don't know shit about music. yes, there might be the occasional rapper who knows music and can play an instrument or actually sing but, for the most part, rappers are musical illiterates. that's why the sample and loop other songs, written by real musicians and sung be real singers, and TALK over the loop. when they need a singer or a guitarist, etc., they hire one because they can't sing or play. what they do, again, most of them, is write remedial level grade-school poetry based on their inner city experiences and/or aspirations.

as an accomplished musician/songwriter and teacher, i have no use for this type of crap.

I tell ya I would listen to any rap before any 80's bullshit hair band...especially RATT...oh my god..what the fuck were they thinkin?

How can you folks listen to rap working out? Sure some of it has a good beat but where is the blood curdling screaming from bands like Skid Row, AC\DC, Ratt, etc.? I have a MD player and burn all my 80's hair bands in to make the ultimate workout music. The 80's were the best time for hard rock. Makes my workouts really intense and just want to kick everyones ass. The only thing I want to do when listen to rap is bob my head and cap someone...
I would switch to listening to rap before I Ever listened to AC/DC.
