There are several reasons why you shouldn't post a new thread asking for someone (a complete stranger) in the community to give you a source and why you should put in the work to find one yourself.
1). Scammers
Scammers prey on the naive. When you openly ask for a source, you're giving a scammer the opportunity to befriend you. This typically happens via PM (private message).
They know that you're eager to begin a cycle and will take full advantage of that by offering you everything you could possibly want. All you have to do is send them the cost of the cycle in BTC (Bitcoin) and they'll promise to ship your package out right away.
It doesn't take long to realize that your package isn't coming. That's when they burn the handle they're using and never sign back in, or for their own amusement, they string you along with excuses as to why you haven't received what you paid for yet.
Worst case scenario. If you gave a scammer your private info, (real name and home address) there's a chance they could use that to blackmail you into keeping quiet and/or scare you away from coming back to Meso.
2). Gear whores
We have a handful of members here that have no shame in accepting free gear in exchange for their devotion to a source.
This tactic is typically used by new sources that are desperate to get a foot in the door and feel that buying reviews with free gear is going to help them become a trusted source.
When you openly ask for a source, there's a chance that one of these gear whores will point you in the direction of the source that supplies them with free gear.
They may not necessarily believe that the source is all that great. It's possible the source has underdosed gear. That doesn't matter to them since everything they receive is free. So bringing you, a new customer, to that source helps keep the free gear flowing.
3). Alt. Handles
We're all anonymous here. i don't know you, and you don't know me. i could be 50 different members. i could also be a source (or a rep for a source) masquerading as a member.
When you openly ask for a source, a deceitful source with an alternate handle has a chance to take advantage. He may befriend you via PM like the scammers do, or he may post in your thread that such and such a source has always been great for him and he highly recommends them.
Don't be a victim. This requires you to be self sufficient when looking for a source.
Take the time to peruse source threads in the underground forum. Look for the most recent posts and get a feel for how other members perceive that source.
Genuine members are typically casual when speaking about a source they've dealt with. They don't live in a source thread and endlessly gush about how much they love a source. If you see silliness like that, it's best to take what they say with a grain of salt.
Look for lab work and analytical testing from members as well. This may require a little digging and learning how to use the site's search engine.
Lastly, there are no guarantees, but with a little work, you can easily avoid being taken advantage of, as well as avoid having your ass verbally handed to you by long term members that actually give a damn about the integrity of Meso and don't want to see you get taken advantage of.
