Paul, it still says the join date on the member's page... And, you and I both know people who are going to get scammed, will get scammed from both new and old members... Some people just don't have the skills to read between the lines, some do... I do think we need SOME sort of "rating" or "ranking" system... I'm not sure I like the idea of one being "better" than the other, as it was before "Junior, WKM, AM etc."
Together, we should brainstorm what makes a good/valuable member and what makes a shitty member. Then, this can be used to establish (ideally) some sort of system for ranking. Voting sucks.... Likes sucks... Seniority is not terrible, but it's certainly not EVERYTHING... To me, these are some of the factors that matter when determining a good member:
Seniority- Sorry, it does amount to SOMETHING. It shows that at least you're consistently here and providing some sort of content. That helps keep the board as a whole around.
Quality of content- People like Mands and Jim, for example, that go out of their way to test products for us provide about the highest quality content I can imagine for our board. This has to matter in some way.... Also, members who post logs and heavily trafficked threads (such as OGH's food thread, that's a GREAT thread that should be valued).
