Okay guys I decided to give my company’s workout center a try. Just for the hell of it. I was bored and wanted a new environment. Take it I’m still a member at my gym so this “workout” was during company time. Well my lunch time.
Okay I go down to the fitness center. By the way I work for a company called Tribune. You may have heard of it? We sell the Chicago Tribune paper amoung millions of other papers and we own the Chicago Cubs and like a billion TV stations.
Back to the story. I go down to our Fitness Center. The young lady at the front desk submitted me an application and I had to sign a wavier in the event I hurt myself they are not responsible.
After getting all the written information completed, I proceed to the fitness center. Okay first off, this place is so damn tiny PeeWee Herman would feel like Mr. Olympia. If any of you wanted to get a “okay” workout, the Fitness Center would not have enough weight for you.
Well I decided to make the best of it. Plus I’m getting this workout for free. I decided to do chest. Nothing too heavy as I hit chest the day before. I started with some flat dumbbell flyers. There was a guy working on the bench ( as they only had one bench beside the smith machine) so I asked to work in.
The guy was nice and had no problem. However, you should have seen him looking at me. The guy was looking like I was Mr. Olympia or something. I told him I’d do my set once he completed his. He does six reps of flat dumbbell presses (using 60lb dumbbells in each hand). Now I’ll tell you that the sixth rep he did was a complete struggle.
I thought I’d have to get the weight off him. I believe the guy went up in weight once I asked to work in. Trying to show he can hang. I almost laughed. So I grabbed the 60lb dumbbells and did some flyers. I rep out around 15 to 20 reps.
The guy eyes almost popped out of his head. I did two more sets but going up to 70lbs. Remind you that the heaviest dumbbells go up to 75lbs.
There after I did three sets of flat benching on the smith machine. I went up to 275lbs for 12 reps but the guys in the gym looked at that as I was doing 400lbs.
It’s so funny to workout with older corporate people. They are in such awe when they see a bodybuilder. I had to share this as it was too funny. Although everyone was so nice, these were the worse bodies I‘ve seen in my 32yrs.
I felt like Ronnie Coleman visiting a Jr. High School’s weight room. Too funny guys.
