Uncle Z's former domestic remailer sentenced to 17 years

It's still unfortunate. It's unlikely he could afford a decent attorney if he and his wife were really in desperate financial straits. They were only making $2000 per week as sole source of income. That doesn't go far for a rainy day fund for legal expenses. I don't think justice system should penalize the poor/stupid and reward the wealthy/smart.

Look at Jon Jones yesterday. Gets no jail time and 18 months probation for a hit and run causing bodily harm! Status has its privileges!

Appreciate the update as always.

Have to wonder though... Is this the same Uncle Z running the show now as it was 10+ years ago? There were always rumors floating around that he was from Poland and was busted.

Kind of wonder if he lives on the same way British Dragon does.

The real crime is that you bought a VW. ;)

Bravo, Colt, nicely played.

Everytime another VW comes racing up from behind me, switching lanes like their crotch is on fire, I think to myself "this better be a cute chick who likes cock driving this VW on my bumper" and whenever it turns out to be a dude driving the VW, I know they still like cock.;)

Is there any circumstance where low-level employees should face same penalties as CEO when fraud orchestrated from the top?
When the fraud results in death and the employees are complicit, yes.

Consider that GM knowingly sold cars with faulty ignition systems that killed more than 120 people, and is facing (from memory) $600m in fines.

VW circumvented an EPA mandate pushed for by special interest groups, AND it built an engine plant in Russia. For one of those "crimes" it faces $18B in fines and a stock crushing criminal probe.

This should also be a warning to the lone wolf sources around here (you know who you are) to be much more discreet. The long arm of the law reaches far.....

With a few aggravating factors I'm sure I can come up with some examples yes.

I gotta say I'm surprised anyone would hold low-level employees equally responsible for, or at least deserving of the same penalties, as the executives who orchestrated the crime. Oh well.

What do you think about the inequity in criminal defense. The low-level employee gets a public defender while executives get entire team of $1000/hour attorneys to defend them against same charges. Ok too?

Speaking of the GM executives, they escaped prosecution thanks to GM deal with feds.

That's why I stipulated in my post that with a few aggravating factors I could come up with some scenarios where I'd agree with it. Is it usually the case? No of course not.

I believe the justice system is incredibly fucked up and inlet at all levels so no I don't like how low income ppl get stuck with public defenders.

Do you think CEO pay should be capped or is it up to the company to decide what to compensate their CEO?

How the hell do you destroy someone's life for an aesthetic hormone... i can't even call aas a drug. This country is fucked.
