Cutting

Do you think carb cycling makes a difference?
How else would you recommend hitting 5% bf for a show? It's either that or 4-6 hrs a day training lol? I know you were asking doc but just saying from. What I know everyone drops carbs to hit the stage. I'll be doing 1.5 hrs a day lifting with some good intensity 5 days a week and cardio seperate times 1-3 hrs a day 3-5 days a week. Mostly hr a day few days but couple days I'll go do active hobbies and get in 2-3 hrs

Carb depletion and carb cycling are 2 different things. Not all pros go very low carb.

Oh ok. Well I'm doing a practice right now. Theoretically I'm 4 weeks out from a show. Do you think my plan is good or I'm better off with a different route. Thank you for putting the time into this thread!

I don't know if a month is enough time. Maybe @Docd187123 has a suggestion with that time frame.

Ok. I thought that with my physique/genetics (grew up skinny and lean) that with test, and winny and duet and cardio I'd shed from around 10% down to 5% in 4 weeks but I might have been over ambitious thinking that

You can possibly get to 6% if you are10% in 6 weeks assuming u loose 2lbs of actual fat a week.

4wks probably isn't enough time unless you did a severe deficit. 6wks would be better IMO.

Edit* you have to remember that the leaner you get the harder it will be to cut fat while preserving muscle. 20% to 15% is a whole different game than 10% to 5%. At such low bf levels mobilization of fatty acids becomes and issue

So pros prepping for show are closer to 6% 4 weeks out? Prolly 8% already 8 weeks out? OK makes sense. I'll just do my best and see where I'm at. That's why it's a practice run. Only reason I'm thinking 4 weeks is cuz that's when Im off cycle and I don't want low calorie off cycle losing gains. I thought if I'm high protein on cycle it will preserve the muscle and burn the fat

Your math is off. If I was 200lbs and last 2 lbs of fat per week I would go from 10% to 5% in 5 weeks. And I'm only 158lbs so I need about 8lbs. So 2 lbs a week for 4 weeks. But I'm not saying I can do 2 lbs of just fat per week but that would be the math.

It's good that you do a dry run. Gives you experience.

Log everything and notate so you can refer back in the future. I wouldn't worry about the loss of muscle the final few weeks while off gear. If you're on long estered suff it'll take 2-3wks to really clear your system plus you don't lose muscle all that fast if you maintain good protein intake and high intensity training.

Sorry. I meant 5%. But I will still give it 6 weeks because when trying to get to single digits it get harder.

So I decided to go with 3 days low carb 1 day high and keep it cycling like that unless otherwise needed to change. Just today is day 4 I get to eat! Going 400 on high carb and 50 on low carb

Haven't been getting in as much gym as I'd like last few days been really busy but getting in some cardio and getting some pumps at gym as much as I can. Schedule will be tight all week and should return to normal next week. Working hard to keep diet on point though I feel like right now that's the most important part. I can tell I'm getting a little leaner can't wait for few more weeks!
