WWE

Id like to hear proposed arguments for a better trash talker than the rock

Maybe Randy Savage
Maybe Rick Flair

Still its distant 2nd imo

Hmm...I wouldn't put Savage over Piper in that era and I think he'd struggle to be in my top 10 in general.

Dusty & Flair are good shouts. I'm going to throw Jerry Lawler's name in there as well - one of the best heels of all time in my eyes.
None of them come close to the Rock of course.

Best trash talker of all time:
1) The Rock
2) Stone Cold
3) Dusty Rhodes

The American Dream? Hells yeah!

But there is one guy that most of us forget about or don't know about, because his peak popularity was in the mid to late 70's. That being, this guy... He is considered one of the creators of the modern day style of trash talk. He is also credited for being one of the first mega muscle physiques in the industry. In addition to the two aforementioned credits, he has been named by Hulk Hogan, Scott Steiner, and many others as being one of, if not their main influences.

He is, Superstar Billy Graham! Keep in mind when watching this promo that he was SUPPOSED TO BE THE MAIN BAD GUY (heel) at the time, yet listen to the crowd reaction as he comes to the ring. It ended up being the reason they took the belt off of him and doomed his character, because Vince McMahon Sr. didn't like that a trash talking, body builder looking guy was getting so popular, when he thought that a guy with Grahams background should be getting booed and should be the villain.

Oh, and does anyone recognize the very young announcer interviewing The Superstar?!;)

Haha, yes i dont remember remember him but i know OF him
I was always quite sure he just trained arms. Lol
He was very infatuated with his arms

I still cannot get over the fact they had Goldberg's streak end with Kevin fucking Nash at Starrcade.
The guy was hot as hell and selling tickets all over the place, so you decide to beat him and pretty much have him do nothing for the rest of 99.
WCW man. Bad booking for decades.
Technically, it was the perfect way to defeat him.... cattle prod! Plus, Kev was the booker at that point, so he got to call the shots.
After that he made the mistake of punching out a window when they told him to use a bat, and had to be out almost a year due to his ego causing him to tear the nerves and tendons in his hand and forearm. Killing the angle and his revenge before it got to culminate ;)

Vince McMahon is on record as saying that Superstar Graham was 10 years ahead of his time, that his father (Vince Sr) who was in charge at the time (1970's) just didn't know how to use Graham, and that if Billy Graham would have come along in the mid-80's that HE would have been the Hulk Hogan of that Era.

Watching the crowd pop he got back then when they were doing everything they could to get him booed and hated, makes you believe Vince Jr when he says that! I mean, Graham was in a feud with Bruno Sammartino, in the northeast, where those people idolized Bruno. Bruno was legit as popular in that region as the biggest legit sports stars of the time.

Because people really cared about a Nash vs Goldberg rematch after the finger poke of doom a few weeks later right...:)

I haven't looked into that specific timeline in a while but I'm pretty sure that particular booking decision is what set off a chain of events that lead to the end of WCW. In fact, the first real panic over TV ratings happened soon after in February and the blame was directed mainly towards...Kevin Nash.

Nah, it was the multiple resets with creative. Ed Ferrara and Vince Russo came, tried to reset everything, Russo without a filter and thinking fans were dumb enough to not care about his HORRIBLE creative ideas, including himself and David Arquette both having a turn holding the World title, and reseting stories and stripping every title TWICE in less than a year is what killed them. Then the fact that almost every guy had guaranteed contacts, whether they say at home or gave any effort, as well as creative control to refuse to anything if they didn't like it. .... that's what killed Dubya Sea Dubya

Now @gr8whitetrukker , back to the American Dream Dusty Rhodes (you have to pronounce his name in your head with a strong lisp ;)).

He absolutely gave one of the single most well known rasslin' promos ever, below. (shout out to @rubisean , you know what I'm talkin' bout when I say rasslin').

You MMA fans may very well recognize this promo, as Chael Sonnen did a version of it as well.

Not a wrestler, paul e. dangerously was a hell of a promo. Dont know whay ever happened to the fella though.

If there is one thing to take away from all of this...
YOU JUST DONT FUCK WITH VINCE MCMAHON
He killed Ted Turners copy cat WCW and whipped up on the US govt as well

My usual reaction to cage match for a main event: Oh boy!!! :D
My reaction once I find out it's also a Reigns match: Oh boy superman punch x15, spear, win :(

The reaction Roman gets is interesting. The dudes harass him, the girls throw their ass at him. o_O I know my wife sure seems to watch the screen quite a bit more when he is coming to the ring. ;)

Lol yeah kids and women love him- my nephew loves the dude and so does my fiancee. My beef with him is just the lacking move set. By no means do I think everyone has to be Kurt Angle, but throw in some simple stuff here and there- a headlock takedown or a snapmare or hip toss or my favorite, the dreaded atomic drop lol.

Sounds like a series of, ahem, "moves" that my wife probably secretly wishes Roman would "perform" on her.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
The take down, followed by tossing her hips, and finishing her off with the atomic money shot, err, uh, I mean atomic drop!
Believe that!;)

So the WWE toned down the cruiser weights on Monday. If you watched any of the CWC you would see they have asked them to bring it down notch. I knew it wasn't going to be done the right way
