Log - getting strong - Redo #3,482

So you decided to join the PL crowd?

In all seriousness the PL crowd gets shit done in short order.

Nothing special diet wise. Not cycling. Going to deadlift 2 times a week 4-6 sets of 3 reps for one workout. 2-3 sets of 8-10 on the other. Not going to get too crazy on weight this month.

I like that. If you stall you could rotate in some 2's or 5's on the low rep day and swap in a variation on the high rep day. Just thinking out loud.

This is where I have absolutely no knowledge. Variations of deadlifts?
I've always just done a normal deadlift(for lack of a better term).
Are you talking like good mornings or sumos for variations? I'll have to read up on them.

I did sumos a few times. My grip fell into the smooth part of the bar. Gripping the bar without the gnurling was a challenge for me

Yeah, paused, block pulls, deadlift to the knees, sumo, deficit, whatever addresses your weaknesses. No need to overcomplicate things at first though. Just pull and make gains as long as you can.

Congrats on the baby and he's practically ready to hit the gym with you lol so you'll be spoiling him soon enough! Give it some years you'll have another powerlifter in the family.

Looks like he'll be a squatter too with those big legs...600lbs by time he's 18 haha.

Well I got 4 pork tacos in my belly to fuel me up for tomorrow.
Will be doing deadlifts. Now I'm going to go pass out with the kid and my pups.
Funny story. My wife doesn't like sharing the bed with the dogs so I got them each their own dog bed, but my pit sneaks his way into my side of the bed every morning around 1 and is off and back in his bed by 6am. Sly little devil. Wife doesn't even know :P

Alright ladies,
I am actually in week 2 of pct... Strength is still there buy recovery most definitely isn't. I'm still sore from Mondays leg workout, so I will probably do some upper body stuff.
Going to do some chest pre exhaustion stuff, then heavy hammer machines.
Wrist still can't lock out on a barbell so bench and OHP are put on the back burner for now.
Probably do some shoulder stuff and pull ups as well. Don't have any real goals for upper body. Just want to deadlift 600lbs.

Did 3x10 pull ups
3x15 pec deck at 180
3x10 flat hammer w/3 plates
3x15 incline hammer w/2 plates
Face pulls
Bunch of seated calves

I'm going to buy some kettlebells this weekend.
Or I may just snag these tires that have been in my backyard since I moved here last December and stuff them with sand.....
Start throwing heavy things again.

When I was in the army we did a bunch of things like that. Throw sand bags. Push humvees. Rip chickens heads off with sticks.... You know, simple things like that.
It was fun, and I was in insane shape. I'll see if I can find some old pics.

Gotta pick up heavy things and put them down hard :)

Explosiveness seems to be the best way to build strength, for myself anyways.
So if I can try to take a 200lb object and throw it as far as possible, it seems to make lifting a 400lb object super easy.
That plus the satisfaction your strength is gaining is a multiplier of sorts.
