Wanna know WHY Texas is so badass?

If faced with an opponent who has an assault rifle, would you rather have a pump action squirrel hunting pea shooter, or be able to match the firepower? A regular Joe with a decent shot and an AR-15 is a lot better off than a regular Joe and his duck gun.

It's not about fear, it's about preparedness. We have a right to be prepared for anything, and to protect ourselves from anything, especially an oppressive government. History has taught us not to let our guard down.

I love my country, but I don't trust any government. Only a fool would.

sure, just let me know where i can buy the following to be able to match firepower

Nah see...what you want for home defense is a 12 gauge pump or autoloader. The first shot is birdshot so you make sure you catch em' no matter what. Then the next shot is buckshot, then the next shots are slugs. Death is guaranteed:)

Utah is tied for 19th place as a state where you're more likely to be killed by a gun. Utah is at 12.6 gun deaths for every 100,000 people.

Some 83% were by suicide. If I wanted to commit suicide, that's the way I would do it too.

I'm sure your other stats are just as goofy, but I'm too lazy to look them up.

Dude, you picked a state that has less people in it than NYC. Chicago has almost as many people as the entire state of Utah.

Anyway, some other stats you might not know:

Utah is tied for 19th place as a state where you're more likely to be killed by a gun. Utah is at 12.6 gun deaths for every 100,000 people.

What is even more ironic, of the 20 top states where you're more likely to be killed by gun, 19 of the 20 don't require permits to buy a gun, while one, Indiana, only requires a permit for a handgun.

So sure, ill grant you the point on Utah having low gun deaths in total numbers but relative to the population size, its worse than all of Illinois or NY.
Ok I see where this is going. Lol ... I guess there's an excuse or counter point for any example no matter which side makes it. I've enjoyed our debate though seriously I have. Good luck to you. If some crazy lunatic is running around shooting people come to my house I'll still protect you:D

I have to go clean my AR now. It's dirty from all the rounds I've put down range. Yea I'm being a smart ass but all in fun:p

I need to clean my 7mm Savage. From all that dust it collected during elk season.

Its just a different experience and opinion. If you were born in a metro area i will almost guarantee your view will be different for a variety of reasons.
Ya know...out in the sticks we dont actually have police in a moments noticeo_O
Were taught to be self reliant.
Hence this brave old man that took his AR and ended the threat or at least chased him away from killing more ppl. Shot him between the armor and once in the leg.
Cops wouldnt of been there for 20 minutes minimum. No PD for miles and miles.
Cops didnt do penis to stop the shooter in this case. It was all 2nd amendment and a middle aged plumber who was scared shitless but he ran in to action anyway.
Thats the definition of a hero

The point of the second amendment is not to protect ourselves from others. The reason for the second amendment is to allow the people to have equality in arms as our government does. So if Johnny law is packing a 30 round magazine in an AR-15, we are to. That way we have an equal opportunity to uphold our beliefs if the unfortunate incident of a dictorship were to arise. Are nukes available on the market for civilian purchase? Of course not. But tanks, fighter jets,Blackhawk helicopters are of your pockets run deep enough. There are way more civilians than there are soldiers of the government and even if it came down to another civil war how many soldiers are going to turn their arms upon their brothers and sisters? With the second amendment we actually have a fighting chance. Without it, the government can do whatever the fuck they want.

@gr8whitetrukker. when I finished my service in 1971 I moved to Bastrop texas for a few months, it was like a halfway house between the corps and the real world. I loved that place I still visit it when I'm in texas.

Do you own a gun Doc?

Not here to argue or fight. Just curious.

Don't have the pleasure of owning a gun at this point in time but I honestly would like to in the near future. I just have things in my life that need to be taken care of before that can happen.

Some 83% were by suicide. If I wanted to commit suicide, that's the way I would do it too.

I'm sure your other stats are just as goofy, but I'm too lazy to look them up.

Yup, most of them were suicides but guess what is linked to less gun ownership and suicide success rates...

You're not being a smart ass in all honesty bc if I were in your shoes I'd love to be cleaning and firing that baby off.

Many ppl assume I want guns eradicated or wouldn't want to use one bc I argue one side of this debate. Just bc I argue that one side doesn't mean I don't enjoy the same things you do.

I'm sure there are some people who want to get rid of all guns, I'm not one of them :)

I think he’s referring to fent laced heroine which most likely is an OD resulting in death and not a suicide. People on that shit don’t have problems when they are on that shit. Their main problem becomes acquiring that shit and that’s all they think about.

All you guys stating you have a shotgun for home defense I urge you to watch Magpuls Art of the Shotgun where they show a dozen skilled shooters having at least 3 pellets not in the range of the target at 10’. If you have family than a shotgun is the last thing you want. What I would suggest in a full size grip pistol in 45 or 9mm with advanced ballistics with a light rail. This will allow the most maneuverability as well as allow you to navigate doors while holding your weapon at the ready.

If your intent is to scare a mother fucker than the racking of a 12ga is about as good as it gets.

What's good about failing to kill yourself? You're not implying suicide attempt rates are correlated with gun ownership, I hope.

If the original attempt at suicide fails, there is only a 10% chance or so that same person will try again.
