Used car with lots of leg room under $20k?

I knew we would get along outside of here lol
I was a tech a Honda for years in my 20's and all we did was build bad ass all motor or boosted gsr or Si motors. I had a 88 CRx si with a JDM civic type R motor I built from scratch. 203 hp all motor at the wheels. Built tranny also. Ran low 11's in the 1/4. My shop foreman had a boosted civic hatch caged with a parachute running low low 9's. Oh the good ole days of spending every dollar I had on nothing but engine parts lol
That's bad ass! I was attempting to go for the record for fastest Evo on stock block, street tires and pump gas but sold it before I could best I got was an 11.1 @125, record at the time was 10.3. I will say I don't miss trying to drive around town with a twin disk clutch lol

Yeah fuck a twin disk. I drove one and its eithe on or off lol. Mine was 6 or 8 puck I can't remember. With a JDM civic si tranny and lsd. It was basically the same shit on or off and it was my daily. I do admit I miss the sound when that vtec use to open from 7k-10k rpm screaming like a mother fucker!

I'd be divorced now because now I actually have money to build bad ass Shit. My wife would curse me out lol.

That's pretty sick times on a stock block! I sleeved mine because I was running 14:1 comp with a fully built head and individual throttle bodies.

Jesus, if I'd gone with that compression with the amount of boost I had, it would've exploded.

I know what you mean tho, I don't make half what you do, but still sitting here thinking if all the money I spent on bodybuilding stuff went to a car, I'd have an Alpha 16 GTR at this point. Hell, just swap my food/supplement bill with my car payment and I could get a bad ass car.

Isn't that what you'd find inside a tuned GT-R? A small guy who's compensating?

I don't race cars myself, but I have a friend who races Porsches and he calls GT-Rs "roadblocks" that are just in his way. His car weighs 1,500lbs wet and has 600hp so yeah, most things are fat and heavy by comparison. Then his son got in his car (same kind of Porsche) and utterly humiliated a guy with a race-built GT-R who had been king of the track until my friends showed up. The GT-R guy kept dialling up more power to keep up, and eventually blew his engine (he had well over 1,000hp at max boost, don't know exactly how much) - oops - they're simply too fat and heavy on the track.

Might as well buy the new Demon for a lot less, or buy a Corvette and have a car that's a lot easier/cheaper than a GT-R to tune, and also turns (versus the Demon, which doesn't really turn).

Yeah that's the worst part of ole girl. Only 2 dig and has the small 5.0 in it. She's been good to me though. I've had it about 11-12 yrs and it still only has 118k miles on it. Not bad for a 22 yr old truck.
 
Hahaha I'm not 17. But I do miss the days of drag racing and tuning fuel maps. Being able to push over 500hp at the wheels on a 4cyl was alot of fun and learning about fuel mapping, load cells, and ignition timing was great!

By flat do you mean straight? The Evo has 4 pistons in a row going up and down. The STI has a boxer engine where the pistons are going left to right. The ricers like civics and vw well, I never even touched those
I cannot express to you enough how embarassed i am for that 4 banger movement that came and finally went. It was like somebody went back to the 70s and instead of REAL cars replaced them with econo cars. And the guys and hot women? Replaced by flat bills and ghey barb wire tattoos. Yes, scientifically proven 4 bangers with spoilers drop the total T count of the owner.

Anyone that hasn't ridden in a built 4cyl should. Shocking how fast they can be. I just hate the white sunglass trend that followed the scene.

I think it should be noted that there were tuners with 500hp+ Evo, dsm, skylines, supra, sti, 350z etc and then there were the ricers with their civic and Volkswagens that were retarded and an embarrassment. Stretched tires, skinny jeans, neon sunglasses, and flat bill hats, no...just no
 
Yeah, some of my friends had evos with HUGE turbos and 500hp sti's built with nos and cryo-treated gears. They still looked normal. The Acura i built was a badass chick car I used to say. I woulda driven it too but my chick was in love with it. I instead went the tuned diesel truck route at the time. I like pushin it to the limit. Raced my buddies duramax when he was towing his camp trailer. I had my 6k lb slide in camper and my boat behind thee old powerstroke.. pretty even really.

My top pick would be one of the Lexus vehicles, I personally love and my next car will be a LS 460 AWD L, but this or the ES 350 would be an excellent choice. Comfort, reliability, economical, and great value!
