Substitute for power, gym manager no like.

Oops title should read power clean.

I will be switching to an intermediate program in 6 weeks. The new program includes power cleans.

Never done them before so I wanted to get my motor skills down before I program them. Started practicing with very light weights. Apart from my mobility issues with the front squat with the wrists position the tutorials I seen all drop the weight from the end of the lift.

The gym manager told me I can't do them anymore cos noise, damage to aerobic class floor and damage to weights.

The weights are encased in a massive amount of rubber.

I can't tell the gym manager to go kill himself cos I do not have an alternative gym.

What lift can I sub in that hits the same muscles and requires explosive power?

I can get some karate/kung fu mats or some shit from a bud to lay on the floor but nope manager refused.

Thanks any advice.

That really sucks, seems like a lot of gyms are starting to cater to these people that just come to hangout. I mean fuck you offered to bring extra mats to keep noise to minimum, as far as the weights getting damaged he’s crazy. I really don’t think there is a supplemental exercise. Does you gym allow dead lifts? These can also be noisy most of the time.

It's because there is always that one douche that purposely makes noise, and then looks around to see who is watching.

Yeah in my gym it’s usually the young kid doing deadlifts. Stacks a bunch of plates on wraps his wrist wraps around bar, since it’s to heavy for him. Then slams weights down looking for attention.

My gym also caters to pussies. Can you get 24 hr access? My gym offers it so i pay the extra $10 a month and go during unstaffed hours so nobody can complain bout the noise i make. I mean...they can complain to me, but i just tell them to fuck right the fuck off.

It sucks when a good gym starts catering to casuals. But it eventually happens to most of them. They have to to stay afloat and make any profit .

be a dick about it bro. is he the owner of the gym or just the manager. is it a big box franchise gym? ask the manager to show you the contract you signed that states you’re limited to certain exercises. if the gym allows olympic barbells why in the fuck can’t you perform olympic barbell exercises.

tell him you have gains to make and you’re on a training regimen.
tell him if you “damage” the plates to charge your card for them.

or ask him what days/nights he’s there so you can avoid him

fuck that shit

Going with this, gonna wave the contract and rules in his face and just fucking train. Doubt they gonna get physical cos they pussies and if they do it's on CCTV and it won't end well for them. I will eat those weak fucks alive.

Financially locked into the contract so I want what I paid for.

Thanks for the push, I needed it.

Also any clues on wrist/shoulder mobility for front squat position.

Load up around 315 in the rack and get into the catch position with the bar staying In the rack.

Basically just stretching to get into the catch position with enough weight on the bar that its static and you stretch around it .

I have a hard time explaining things like this so if that doesn't make sense let me know and I'll try to elaborate

I am sorry but I am in the camp if you can’t control the weight to the floor then don’t lift it. Most of the biggest bodybuilders in the world agree with me. If you are a power lifter I can understand but evrone else it’s not necessary. Most of the old time gyms like golds would not allow slamming or yelling. I never even drop dumbbells. Why do you need to drop the weight? I understand a failed rep but every set?

Find a different gym.

It’s a fuckin gym....it’s suppose to be loud. Who cares who’s being loud who cares who’s moaning/groaning...put ur headphones in and focus on yourself. @everyonewhocomplainsaboutnoise
Everyone seems to bitch about people who make noise. Why the fuck are you paying them any attention...you should be focused on yourself. I have this guy in my gym he’s loud as fuck and sometimes it’s annoying..but these kids that make fun of him for it are half his size and look like shit. So you tell me who belongs in that gym.

That and dickheads like to drop bars high as shit and slam them on surfaces they shouldn’t be so they bend. Ever bench or pull on a bent bar it’s notttt fun

Tbh you can still do power cleans and not slam the weight . You should be doing this anyway controlled motions build good foundations and habits . As far as the mobility you could open your shoulders a bit more and what I mean by that is point them out a tiny bit more it may help you

The exercise does not have a negative, you drop the weight.
I have been doing them for more than 20 years and I never drop the weight. That’s bouncing the weight and and as you said there is no negative so there is no reason to bounce it, you always dead start cleans. If your going so fast that you bounce the weight you are not doing a clean anymore.

I ain't gonna lie, when the look at me guys start slamming weight on the ground it pissed me off. I've lifted very heavy for many years and never slammed weights.

It's like the little bitch that squats 275 lbs going down 3 inches and screaming like his dick got caught in his zipper or that guy that does dumbbell presses with 120 pounders but his friend is pushing up his elbows getting a better pump than the guy benching. Then the cunt drops the dumbbells.

Control your weights or find a gym full of weight dropping morons.

I understand it when doing max weight at a meet but otherwise, control your shit

It also depends on the way the gym is set up. Our weight area is upstsirs and when guys drop the weight it sounds like bombs are being dropped.
