You and I live far past the events of the bible, both old and new testament, none of these writings prove anything supernatural, even if there are places in the bible that can be found today, it doesn't prove the supernatural.

This is the story I use when explaining how easy it would be to make up a supernatural tale that is meshed into reality.

Only it's worse in the case of the New Testament where the gospels are written at least 30 years beyond the events. Pauls writings are 20 years after and he never met Jesus, he's just getting word from others.

You can't convict in the court of law based on this kind of time lapsed hearsay, there's a reason we have the statue of limitations and I'm sorry to say the statue states that the bible can't be permitted as evidence and so we toss it in the trash where it rightfully belongs, pay so homeless guy to unzip his pants and take a cheese dick whiz all over it.

Written history depends on those doing the writing and since man isn't trust worthy in the least, you need a very high standard that simply wasn't or couldn't be met during those ancient times.

A critical persons job is to doubt everything, question everything. Were there multiple accounts from parties with no shared interests or need to push an agenda or convince others to agree with their views.

If it's just a weather report, an account of the stars or cosmological events, mathematical or attempts at scientific writings of discoveries. Those can be looked at as possibly real with extreme use of criticism.

If it's philosophy written down by 2nd or 3rd parties, perhaps students, it's murky, but it can be interesting to read as long as you realize that it has a bias in that it was probably only written by one person.

Religion....it's completely impossible to accept any of these writings. From the dead see scrolls that have no known authorship they are as trustworthy as bronzed age men sitting around the campfire telling tales to entertain their kinfolk.

Tales of the supernatural, since the supernatural is impossible to prove and there has never been any proof of this at all, any critical man would walk away from it knowing it's bullshit.

Now when we talk about ancient accounts of battles, victories, loses, the big picture is relevant, but the minutia isn't because even today we see a press that lies, that spreads propaganda, that hides the truth to paint a picture that fits their agenda and this is in an age where we have a camera to document past events that can be looked upon by millions of people and even that can be twisted and turned to paint desperately different accounts.

So can you trust anything. I would tend to trust something that has been proven by hundreds of independent scientists and mathematicians, something that can be repeated over and over with the same results.

Outside of that, no I don't trust ancient history or any of its writings. The wisdom of the ancients simply can't be trusted, because we know man today which is far more advanced can't be trusted unless put through extensive rigor.

I would encourage anyone to read the stories of the Comanche that once ruled the central plains, representing perhaps the last free people on the planet to do what they wanted when they wanted. I tend to only read his comments when directed at me personally. But yeah, no logic to what he says. Meso and its members don't impose rules on others. Just the opposite. We help others navigate around the unjust rules imposed on us.
