The burden of proof has been placed on the atheist. Christianity has plenty of evidence. Atheists just choose to not believe it. Even current science supports Christianity through the universe having a beginning a finite time ago. Hawking, a much smarter fellow than yourself, was brought down to “the universe created itself”. Pretty laughable, but the best he could do.
Don’t worry though, us Christians are just sitting back waiting for y’all to come around to your senses.
Hawking never believed in a creator God, he was using it as a figure of speech.
It's very simple, you have been handed a collection of writings by a know nothing primitive smelly nasty filthy middle eastern maggots. These people beat out many other religions in that they had a collection of fairytales that could be copied by scribes and sent out to the masses so they could copy them as well. The Jews just happened upon a time when a written down religion was something a newly literate people could follow and put their tiny brains to work on.
You and I live far past the events of the bible, both old and new testament, none of these writings prove anything supernatural, even if there are places in the bible that can be found today, it doesn't prove the supernatural.
This is the story I use when explaining how easy it would be to make up a supernatural tale that is meshed into reality.
"One day I was sitting there and my next door neighbor pulled up in a fancy sports car, i was eating breakfast, then suddenly his vehicle levitated off the ground, the wheels folded in and he shot off into the sky disappearing. A few hours later he came back and parked his car in his drive way. I called my friend bob to come and look for himself and sure enough there was a sports car in the driveway....so surely the rest of the story must be true because I'd never lie to bob, he's my best friend after all."
That's supernatural religion in a nutshell, a huge pile of worthless horseshit, a game of Chinese Whispers that never seems to run out of gullible people willing to believe.
Only it's worse in the case of the New Testament where the gospels are written at least 30 years beyond the events. Pauls writings are 20 years after and he never met Jesus, he's just getting word from others.
You can't convict in the court of law based on this kind of time lapsed hearsay, there's a reason we have the statue of limitations and I'm sorry to say the statue states that the bible can't be permitted as evidence and so we toss it in the trash where it rightfully belongs, pay so homeless guy to unzip his pants and take a cheese dick whiz all over it.
