How does manipulating sodium intake work?

everything has a shitload of salt. Would you track it?

has anybody done this?

I was pissing 3-4x/night. My coach figured I was deficient. Added 12G salt per day. Basically 1/2tsp to each of my 5 meals and it resolved. Drove my water from sub q to intra m and made me look much fuller.

Wow i actually pee Alot to at night. Strange. Will try something similar.

Your saying this right?

1/2 tsp in 5 meals??? Thats alot.

i take in 8000mg sodium and 8000mg potassium on average. I prefer too much over too little for performance and gains. its important.

Yes. Measure out 12g of salt on your scale. It’ll help you see just how much it is. It really helps. I also supplement potassium. Probably more like 2g/day or so. Maybe I’ll try more lol

what potassium do you use?

Starting taking 1/2 tsp salt. Then will up to 1 tsp a week. Which should be 6 grams in a teaspoon. Using mortons sea salt.

LOL! It sounds nonsensical, but it's not. No Salt is a brand name, but all of the salt alternatives are potassium.

And you get more potassium this way than with a supplement.

Yes i have heard of this.

so would you use a regular sea salt as well as the potassium salt?

I’ve had to manipulate salt soooo many times for weight cuts. Like most people have said the CRITICAL thing is to keep your electrolytes in the correct balance/ ratio. If you jack up sodium you gotta jack up potassium, in my case I just start eating a shit ton of potatoes and sweet potatoes

Also remember a teaspoon of table salt does not equal a teaspoon of sodium. Seems obvious but a lot of ppl fuck it up

Good call. I guess not so obvious. 1 tsp salt has 2350 mg of sodium. So i thought i tsp of salt was 6 grams of sodium but its not at all. Dammit!

So does decreasing salt help with weight cuts or increasing salt?

Where can i find info about the correct ratio?

i cant find anything

I’ve been told 1:2 sodium to potassium is a good idea, but I don’t like to exceed 10,000 mg potassium because it can be hard on the kidneys. If I’m eating a shit ton of salt I’ll just keep it 1:1, but that’s through personal trial and error

Yup haha

If I’m a week out I’ll ramp up the salt and water really hard for a couple days to get my body used to flushing fluid out. Then I’ll cut the salt and water gradually over 2-3 days, and your body keeps flushing because aldosterone (fluid regulating hormone) takes a while to catch up. You can lose 10-20 lbs of water weight depending how wet you usually keep your muscles
