Evaluate My Training Split

The one reason I don’t buy into Mentzers training style 100% is pretty basic; he wasn’t light years ahead of his peers developmentally.

You can compare guys like Dorian and Mentzer to guys like Ronnie and Cutler all day long and when it comes down to it, it’s genetics at that point. It’s not like any one of them has slabs of muscle on top of the other or is within 1-2% leaner than another in competition condition.

So my thing is this; why train once every week if you truly enjoy the gym? Seems like that’s for someone who looks at the gym as a task rather than a passion. That’s what kept me from buying into that shit 100%, however the principles do work, but they aren’t the only way

From what i heard mentzer actually wasnt that into training a hobby/enjoyment factor. He would basically fuck off and not train if he wasnt going to compete. I think i heard jerry brainum talk about this on a youtube.

I agree with you, the approach doesnt make sense if you like being in the gym.

He never talked abt it when he worked under Arthur Jones. Up until that point Mike trained volume like everyone else, have a friend that used to train rt next to him and Ray, said they were both strange ducks and that Mike was an asshole. You really have to wonder what’s truth and what was being told merely as a selling point for Nautilus equipment

Have you heard any specifics of how he trained before they turned to HIT?

I am sure that every champion and great athlete has his own view of training and progress. And above all, it is his path of mistakes and ups and downs. I agree there are not one or two ways to achieve. It is important to be able to feel your body or have a competent coach who will help.
But I like to watch the great Ronnie train, but I'm so not ready to train, I just can't do it.
